Fall/Winter Ball 2025

Recommended Posts

Figured I'll do another catchall thread for this year's AFL and winter ball developments.

As a reminder, the Sox prospects playing in Arizona:

  • LHP Hagen Smith
  • RHP Jarold Rosado
  • RHP Carson Jacobs
  • RHP Connor McCullough
  • RHP Tyler Davis
  • IF Sam Antonacci
  • 1B Ryan Galanie
  • OF Braden Montgomery
  • OF Caden Connor

Braden will be joining later in the season after getting back into game shape following a small foot fracture from a HBP. Most of these guys are fresh off of the Barons run to back to back Southern League titles. A couple have upcoming Rule 5 decisions.

I'll also keep an eye out for guys getting winter ball reps in:

Sosa's excellent LVBP results did seem to translate some to his MLB performance. Looks like he'll be back for this season, we'll see where on the IF he plays.

Smith done after 3 innings. 0R, 3H, 2BB, 4K.

McCullough came on in relief and gave up a solo shot.

Sox prospects chipping in for a rally to take the lead: RBI single for Connor, 2 RBI double and a SB for Antonacci for a 3-1 lead in the 5th.

Clean second inning for McCullough.

Galanie single, Connor RBI single, and Antonacci RBI single in the 6th. Antonacci got thrown out trying to stretch for 2nd.

Multi-hit games for all of the Sox boys and back to back crooked numbers for a 7-1 lead.

McCullough done after 2.2 IP. The solo HR was his only baserunner, 1ER/1H, 0BB, 4K.

Thats a good sign for Sox pitchers as its usually a great league fir hitting.

As our own Jarold Rosado and Tyler Jacobs showed later on in the game. Rosado bookended a ground rule double with walks, committed an error to score a run, then gave up the granny. Carson Jacobs entered in relief, then gave up a double and two walks before getting out unscathed. Tyler Davis gave up a single, homer and a single before striking out the rest of the side in the 9th.

110mph double in his first AB, guess he's healthy 😅

Knocked in Antonacci who singled and stole 2B, then scored on a Caden Connor single.

Ah Braden hitting XBH. Picking up right where he left off.

Sam Antonacci - best looking player so far

Every Fall League pitcher from every organization has control problems.

It is always a short sample size to make long term judgements.  At one time Adam Engle led the Fall League in hitting.

Connor McCullough looks like he came from the recent Sox pen.  Players love to face him.

Flowers played parts of 12 seasons in mlb and qualified for a pension. The guys in that league could do worse. You want AFL HoFers that didn’t pan out, try Brent Morel. I believe he hit .400 there.
