Lip Man 1
A long solid story on Manfred's legacy. And yes, the upcoming labor lockout is discussed in detail: https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/rob-manfred-legacy-mlb-commissioner-pitch-clock-astros-cheating-scandal-pete-rose-cba-lockout-expansion/
wegner
The Manfred Man on 2B in extras is his legacy for me and I hate that more than the Nationwide Jingle. 3
Lip Man 1
Speaking of Manfred and the probable lockout. So it was more about preserving all the benefits of being a small market team when technically they didn't meet any of the requirements except for the way in which they operated in a practical sense. Meanwhile Sox staring at $62 million and much less without Robert. Edited December 2 by caulfield12
nrockway
Hate the rule changes but I think it’s fair to say baseball has experienced a resurgence under him. Whether or not he has anything to do with it, I’m not sure, but I have the feeling the MLB will inevitably usurp the NBA in popularity.

Bigger bases and fewer/limited throwovers has led to more action on the base paths as well. WBC in general keeps getting bigger and bigger. Huge increase in NPB players has led to record tv viewership in Japan (that almost eclipses the US at 40% of population) with majority "breakfast time" games. I totally agree. This change may be the reason why MLB has seen an increase in viewership over the last few years. The 7:00 games dragging on until 10:30 or close to 11:00 night after night was getting ridiculous. On the other hand, I think potentially the worst thing that may come out of his tenure is the complete destruction of the American League and National League. He sure seems to be setting MLB up to make this a reality. IMO, it just won't be the same when the Sox and Cubs are both in the "Great Lakes Division" of the "Eastern Conference" or whatever the hell they end up with.
