His BB/chase rates would make Lenyn Sosa blush. They actually strike me as similar hitters, of course Pete is several years younger and an excellent defender at an important position. I dunno how the team couldn't get any club options at least. Roman Anthony signed for 8/180 (lower AAV) with a club option, but the ugly sox only bought out a year of FA.It could end up being an excellent contract, so could've LuBob's, but I also think the Cubs could've waited a year. IMO they should've retained Tucker and passed this extension down the road, let him go through arbitration and invest that money in a roster that could win the World Series now. This contract and the Roman Anthony one makes me think about what a steal the Brewers got with Chourio. 8/82, bought out 2 years of free agency with 2 club options. Smart team.

Smart team.Yep. Great defense, but his hot stretch last year is sandwiched between a mixed rookie season and a .634 OPS second half.I'm not convinced he's a 30-30 guy yet, but I'm also biased because I think he's a brat and wouldn't want the face of my franchise to be quite so punchable lolWill be interesting to see the Sox approach with their young guys

While it is annoying when Jerry does it, the Cubs are literally one of the most profitable franchises in baseball, both on the books, and their off the team investments around the ballpark. Them going cheap is a kick in the nuts to all of their fans. They made almost $100,000,000 last year, and then pretended their couldn't afford the top end FAs.A common theme among all central division teams

Bullpen pitchers collect WAY more on the open market at the deadline than a bat first, non-defender type. We have seen this over and over again.Give me the prospects, all day, every day. And the real prospects, not the former top 50 guy who flopped in his first year in MLB after being exposed.

March 31Mar 31 Carson Benge, RF, New York MetsOf these six rookies, Benge might have been the closest to starting the season in the minors, due to his relatively short tenure as a professional. The No. 19 pick in 2024, Benge reached Double-A by the end of that year, and he had just 24 games in Triple-A at the end of 2025. He was told at the outset of camp this year that he'd be given a chance to make the Mets, and he did everything they asked. He turned out to be everything they had hoped for, too, with an .874 OPS in spring training, and eventually won the right-field job to appear in New York's Opening Day lineup.espn.com
