Yep, I thought he was an impending free agent and they were giving up that draft capital and would still have to extend him with a Parsons-type deal. Missed the Titans extension over the summer. This is a good deal.

Yea they were just saying signing bonus is done, titans take the cap hit next two years, bears basically on the hook for 35M for this year and next, and can get out of it in year 3 if necessary. If not it’s I believe 8.1M for year 3

I watch the Bears, NFL playoffs and stuff here and there. Never heard of this guy before the morning talk said he was available and good so imagine my surprise when I heard the Bears traded for the best DT in football.

Yes this has been rumored heavily for a bit now. Would love this. All they would need after this would be a DB (Jaylon Johnson is cooked) and I'd like their chances.

I'm not sure what they can do to fit Mack in with the salary cap. I'd imagine they are pretty tapped out since they have to pay Simmons something like 7 million this year. I think Mack's pro-rated salary is $8 million, so they'd have to kick the can on someone's contract to make room.

With the Bears getting Simmons I think of what Chris Jones at DT did for the Chiefs SB teams, total dominance, game wrecker. Simmons in the middle of the line demanding double teams and still getting sacks, hurries, and stuffing the run is what he does. His play will make the rest of the D line even better. Dennis Allen has the guy that he was looking for.

Try and find a Simmons in the draft, good luck, very very rare commodity.

I had a couple of our football coaches today making comments to me about the Bears and I didn't quite figure out what they were talking about until I saw the news.

At first I thought damn that's a steep price but then I realized the next few drafts won't be near the top with those first round picks.
