Sandlin features a fastball that sits 93-96 mph but tops out at 98 mph, a slider that has been shown to miss bats,  a splitter that can be a put-away pitch with some refinement, and a curveball that he doesn’t feature much. The ERA leaves quite a bit to be desired, but his fastball is enticing to watch. In July, he struck out seven straight hitters for Greenville against the Rome Emperors. He can potentially be a backend starter for the Red Sox, but he has to bring his ERA down to stick anywhere above Portland.

Right now, he profiles as a reliever who could become a legitimate starting candidate.

And Romy Gonzalez wasn’t even traded to the Red Sox.  He was DFA’d, which I believe Getz deserves some scorn for, but not because the Red Sox got the better of him.  I agree the Booser trade sucked but also not material enough to justify such a stance.

Because every time you cut a player, you net add or lose value to your mlb roster Incrementally.

It all adds up.

Who did they keep over Romy?

Here's a perfect example.

The pitching and offensive sides of the roster are different. The White Sox ostensibly chose to keep Lenyn Sosa over Romy Gonzalez. Let me know the next time Romy hits 22 HRs.

I’m not sure what you’re struggling with…I just said that Getz deserves some scorn for DFA’ing Romy in the post you quoted.

Ummm...the poster is confusing him with Shane Murphy, who is a soft tosser/finesse guy.

Someone write for the last 12 months about him being a future Sox contributor at the mlb level.

Yep, the Sox taking on money to acquire Hicks and Sandlin but not being willing to include money with Robert was a joke.

imo Fenway Sports doing more damage to fans across their various teams than the Mets.

imo Fenway Sports doing more damage to fans across their various teams than the Mets.

The original reporter also debunked his own story. He said Keaschul's name "came up". By all means, please link to anything that mentions a trade that could have been aborted.

Any reporters that have discussed this said they thought the return didn't get much better sending money along with Robert.
