???? What makes you think he can't steal 2nd ? Kind of hard to steal 2nd if you hit a triple and what shouldve been a double but turned into the weird inside the park HR.

He had good stolen base numbers in the minors.

And he's been caught stealing a whopping one time. It was also commented that the Antonacci CS was probably a failed hit and run.

If Shane Smith looks repaired in his next few starts, I could certainly see Fedde to Houston at any time in May or June.

Anything is possible but the pen is still a big detriment to consistently winning. Reasonably fix the pen and they could actually play .500 depending how fast Schultz is consistently good and the HR's keep coming and multiple varying factors.

Ahh so it was based on a very very small sample size of discontent. Got it .

My evaluation of these teams is that the As are good; the Diamondbacks are not good; and, like you said, we caught the Jays at a good time (sort of like the teams playing the Mets and Phillies, although both might end up bad this year).
Sox are getting better, but they need more young pitching. They should have home-grown prospects in Charlotte that they can put into the pen and the don't. When Shane Smith returns, I guess they'll dump Fedde - but I would keep him (through July or until they can work out a reasonable trade) because he's a better pitcher than a lot of the relievers.

I would be shocked if Fedde has any trade value of substance this year. It would be nice and all, but I am sure not willing to hold up a Hagen Smith or Shane Smith needing a roster spot for it.

Up to a 95 wRC+, good for 21st. Keep it going. Show some progress this year and we'll all be a helluva lot more happier and supportive. You don't even have to be good, just be like fun mediocre.

I they will trade him along the lines of Sosa (who, just made an Uribe-like catch of a foul ball). I've yapped about the light returns on Getz' deals on these guys, especially when the other team is the needier party in the trade.
I think they should try him in the pen (although, I think that Burke will end up there eventually so they could just go on with the inevitable and leave Fedde in the rotation).

I don't know. Boston Smith seems to be a dawg, and Jordan Rich was paid $150k bonus in the 17th round by the Blue Jays to skip college. Both look to be productive bats with lots of team control. I just don't think 5th infielders and #6 starters have much value. If the asking on Fedde gets out of range, there's probably 10 similar guys around the game they could have for a song.

Boston Smith was a punt-pick...but looks like an interesting one. Isn't 150K the standard for 11-20?

Fedde is one of those guys who has probably has more value to the Sox than any prospective purchaser (kind of like my 2010 Acura; more value to me than the market price would be).

$150k is the max amount you can offer to a pick in those rounds without having to accrue a penalty for the signing. Honestly it is rather unusual for a HS pick to sign for that amount in general because they have the leverage of going to college and getting that NIL deal instead, and trying again a few years.

As an example, in 2025, The Sox offered up a a slightly over $150 bonus to their 11th and 12 round picks and most other picks after that received exactly 150k.

On April 22, Fedde probably has more value to the White Sox than some other teams. Houston just had 4(?) starting pitchers go down. They're not doing well in the standings and noticeably passed on signing Lucas Giolito. I would think a steady Fedde would have some value to the Astros to cover 6-10 starts if they have any hopes of staying relevant this season.

If Shane Smith starts looking dominating again, Tanner McDougal looks ready, Erick Fedde will not stand in their way. I think Fedde has more value as a starter than a bullpen guy. He shouldn't block Wikelman from the bigs.
