Bannister has been really disappointing. I feel like he came with a lot of hype as well.

And/or Shirley. I'm a litter easier on Bannister because he inherited a big hole. Building takes time, especially from the abyss.

I thought they might have been able to make a reliever out of Cannon. And still interested in why they decided Taylor is just a reliever.

It's well documented from multiple outlets. Bannister thought Taylor couldn't accumulate starting pitching innings quickly enough due to his injury history etc. Instead of pitching in a relief role in the minors; he's doing it in the big leagues. The expectation is that he'll come to 2027 spring training as a starter. The team has reservations about his health as a starter due to extension, pitchers with similar profiles etc but I believe that Taylor and his representatives will push for a chance to start.

I don't have the stats, but it seems like Taylor loses effectiveness after his first inning.

Also doesn’t pitch well when his stuff is flat. All the signs to me of someone that will stay as a reliever

He's had 9 games with 2 IP, for a cool 1.00 ERA and didn't allow an ER in 8 of them. But he's had several outings between 1 and 2 innings, for ERA of 4.63. He started 4 games in April and allowed 1 hit and 0 ER.

To me, when he's on, he looks unhittable; but he's not always on. I hope they try him as a starter; but yall may be right.

Really need three pitches as a starter unless you're 2005/06 Jose Contreras or 1985 Dwight Gooden.

Assuming that you don't have one dominant unhittable pitch...

Taylor has a 4 seam, a 2 seam, curve, slider, cutter, and change.

Sure, but he really utilizes just two pitches as a high leverage reliever.
