I am curious what Getz says at the presser, if he will even address coaches.

  • Yeah let’s fire the coach of the offense that scored the most runs in the AL based on the results of three games, one of which they scored more than enough to win if the pitching didn’t implode.

They led the Al in runs and going into the post season walked a lot is what he will rely on.

I guess I am just jaded by the historical ineptness that befelled them by a good but not elite Cleveland staff.

Correct.

I think the twins were wrong to do what they did. We have been begging for a hitting coach like Shomon. We get one and we want to fire him. If I have to sit through the bullshit of 2022, where we ranked #1 in batting average and had multiple .300 hitters but no 20 home run hitters, I will lose my s%*#.

The Sox finished tied for 2nd in the AL with 104 wRC+. They were 5th in MLB.

For as long as I've been online, fans have been screaming about the Sox using stats-driven strategies. Detractors kept posting how small our data analysis departments were, and how we would never catch up to the league because of a modern day Zeno's Paradox. We finally get close to state of the art, and everyone's complaining about one guy in the batting order who should be in a different spot, how the current trends are ruining the game, or whatnot. 25 other fanbases are all saying the exact same things.

The top three teams in batting average this season:

Milwaukee

Tampa Bay

Los Angeles

RISP? Milwaukee #1. LAD #3. TBR #4.

Tampa struck out the least number of times. LA 4th least. This is likely the world series matchup...

Getting hits and not striking out is still really important. I am also not sure why walking and getting hits are mutually exclusive things, either. Not every swing needs to be for the fences. The White Sox approach sucks.

The Sox were 1 or 2 in the AL for BBs, Runs, wRC+, offensive fWAR. My take is that a team of rookies froze up when they realized where they were and panicked. Their approach got them within a game of 1st place in the Central, and to game 5 of the ALDS. There's work to do to keep improving their offense, and to specifically work with Mune, Colson and Braden to even out their games.

They had an above average offense in MLB this season. Their approach doesn't suck.

If Mune and Kolson's second halves are real, there is a problem. I do think the last few games especially, everyone except for Antonocci and Vargas were trying to hit every pitch about 500 feet. I have never seen so many whiffs on fastballs right down the pipe but 2 to 4 inches above the strike zone. Have to lay off those. Usually, it's easier said than done.

That's the fun of this off season, whenever it happens, is figuring out what to make of half of these guys, Mune and Colson at the top of that list, but imagine trying to evaluate the futures of Hagen, Schultz, McDougal, and a few others too.

Hope they ask him about the plan for Luis Castillo going forward....

Hopefully the phrase "Ol Yeller" is used.

In a change for me, I hope they have a plan. We've watch for decades how the just keep rotating problems in and out. I'm ready for them to actually start fixing players.

Benintendi was 0-7 with 7 k's vs Cleveland. Hard to blame the hitting coach there. Maybe the manager for batting him 5th, but Venalble doesn't deserve the axe. He does need to improve though. He let Jose Ramirez beat him 3 times in a row.

This always cracks me up TBH. Like what are they supposed to say?

"Coach, what I am doing wrong?"

"Have you tried not swinging and missing?"

First time coming on this board since the game 5 loss and I see this thread. Unbelievably dumb and I will see myself out for a bit.

Seriously. I never want to live through 2022 again. That was miserable and IMO, from a hitting standpoint, worse than 2024.

The TLR years were the worst. There is nothing more draining than going into a year with expectations and the team falling apart. At least in 2024 we knew it wasn't going to be good.
