-With all that information processed, the White Sox will add here from the outside. I wouldn’t expect Tarik Skubal to be on their free-agent radar, but money will be spent in this area.

O’RLLY?

He SHOULD be, but yeah, we all know better as long as Jerry is still signing checks.

Realistically adding an ace probably doesn't help this rotation as much as adding two mid rotation guys for the same money.

Getz already added his “ace” in Castillo so it will probably be one mid-rotation signing and banking on kids.

I don't remember Getz describing him as an ace. I could see a free agent and a infielder trade adding two arms.

Big difference between a 2/3 and 4/5 as well.

The number of mid rotation pitchers in that $15-20 million range is going to be pretty darned limited.

You've got Skubal Peralta King Rogers Mahle Griffin and then it really starts to fall off to guys more likely to just provide you bulk innings.

I'm expecting Mize because he'll be cheaper and they'll hope for a lighting in the bottle signing. That Castillo money on the books really does hurt.

Obviously easier said than done, but trading for a TOR arm should be the #1 priority of the off-season for Getz.

Adding depth (DH, RP, Backend SP) in free agency should be the easy part. Sadly I just still don’t expect this organization to be highest bidder on the few available top free agents

Your probably right.

Trading Colson isn't going to get you a ToR arm...

So Bonemer +++ depending on MLB proven profile as a frontline starter...

No way. We have the ammo to get an arm without giving up a major chip.

Carlson, Schultz, Antonocci, McDougal, Sandlin, Martin, Wolkow, Bergolla, Quero

Not saying we are going up get a top 10 arm with a package of 4/5 of them…but a very good SP

8 of those players have lost value from Opening Day...all but Antonacci

you can argue about Sandlin

but generally selling low on assets and buying high or close to peak doesn't work out very well

and Antonacci has more value at 2B

trading Meidroth at an all-time high and moving Antonacci is more logical but everyone will scream Chase is too important to move now and was in many ways the co MVP with Vargas

How did Carlson lose value? He had a .380+ OBP at 19 in A ball with great SS D. No one with sense is panicking because the power isn’t there yet.

Injuries injuries injuries.

It's like saying Roch is worth now than he was on draft day.

Nobody said panic.

I just noted that his trade value hasn't increased as a result of all the missed game action.

Don't quit your day job.

We seem to undervalue the economics of pitching.

The development year was put on hold.

I think they will do the usual low risk signings, probably another Fedde type.

I still don't trust Getz when it comes to trading.

No offense, but that’s something Kenny Williams might say

No offense taken. You are absolutely spot on in that assessment. Kenny Williams put together a World Series winning team by assembling a very strong starting rotation without a hall of fame guy out front. Freddy, Jose, El Duque, Mark, and Jon.

I know, but nothing sustained. Unless the money is somehow expertly invested in long term youth. Doesn’t grow on trees. I think the Sox need to grow out of the value game, and swim in a bigger pond , earn their new ballpark and start landing big fishes

Extending Vargas would be a start...

I am not certain what sustainable means in today's game. Just looking at this century the Rangers lost back to back World Series and the Dodgers won back to back. The Royals appeared in back to back. But most of the teams made an appearance and didn't reach the series again for a while. Sustained, maybe the Astros and Dodgers have sustained, the Giants had a few good year, but that's five or six teams out of 30. So sustained is elusive for most franchises.

How would signing a couple of big contracts, especially pitchers, create a more sustainable success?

Sustained could also be competing for the playoffs most years for small market teams like SD CLE TB MIL.

Atlanta has definitely had sustained success as an organization as well.

Houston, obviously.

Another example would be the Twins from 2001-2010.
