December 11, 200322 yr Wow, think you guys are being a little hard on Gammons, with the way KW feels about Frank it would surprise me if he even asked for a mid level prospect in return. I don't want Weaver but I could definitely see a trade here.
December 11, 200322 yr gammons is a tool, f*** him....i dont say much on here, mostly just read posts, but i gotta get my two cents in here :finger
December 11, 200322 yr First of all frank is a 10-5 guy.... He can veto any trade... Second what would we want weaver for? :fyou Gammons IIRC Frank gave up his right to veto a trade when his deal was restructured last off season.
December 11, 200322 yr I agree......... He reported the "latest rumor"...... that's it.... there will be a million rumors flying around New Orleans this weekend. His job is to report them. Makes for a good Sportscenter and Baseball Tonight.... Lots of rumors will fly, most will have no wings and flop...... but that doesn't mean there is not talk.
December 11, 200322 yr But C'mon Weaver to the sox for Thomas??? LOL!!! Go take your prozac old Fart Again, Josh, he just reports what he hears........
December 11, 200322 yr I KNOW THAT. And if that Happens Kenny's needs to be f***ing shot True, but that would not make gammons a bad guy for reporting it. LOL I don't see this rumor having many legs to it.....
December 11, 200322 yr This would be horrible. The only way this would make any sense is if the Yanks paid basically all of Weaver's contract, otherwise it makes absolutely no sense. I wouldn't in a million years deal Thomas for Jeff Weaver, unless the Sox were really gonna save money and thats not the case unless they plan on spending a lot. As far as trading Frank, the big thing with this contract is he waived his 10/5 rights which means the Sox can deal him at any time.
December 11, 200322 yr I could see Lee (pitcher from NY or Chi) going to LA, Brown to Yanks, and Perez and Weaver to Chicago with the Yanks giving Sox $2M in cash. Weaver is a salary dump and we take a risk. If he pans out we have a solid rotation. If he doesn't we have Perez. I think LA would need pitching in return, maybe we get Mota. If they are dealing Weaver to us, then we better not be giving up anything good in return. The Sox better be giving them absolute crap and the Yanks should still be paying the contract. Now if they moved Thomas and got Perez and Weaver for roughly the same amount as Thomas contract (Meaning the Yanks would have to pick up a whole lot of Weaver's deal)...then and only then would I do that and thats not going to happen. Weaver has one of the worse contracts in the majors.
December 11, 200322 yr Jason, you are finally coming around on Weaver........ There is hope for you yet.
December 11, 200322 yr If were gonna trade Thomas to LA, might as well trade for Perez+prospect and cut the Yankees out of it.
December 11, 200322 yr Was reading over on WSI and JJAV mentioned that Gammons said those would guys would be the centerpieces but other players would be involved. That would make a bit more sense. If Jose and Billy Koch were both included and the only major contract the Sox took on was Weaver's and they also get Perez or Itzuris in return, then I'd say this deal could have a shot. Could is the key word. Who knows, I'm not gonna guess whose involved and I'm not gonna mention guys I want to get cause everytime I mention a guys name I swear that same day they sign with a team not named the Sox.

December 11, 200322 yr Just watched the SC where Gammons reports this rumor, he says there will HAVE to be cash and players added to make it work, so this isn't the final deal
December 11, 200322 yr When you look at the particulars of the deal as it was first presented here, you have to know that there would be other players or considerations involved. Swapping those three players and their contracts between the three teams just does not make any sense. You have to stop and consider it's only a rumor. If there is substance to the rumor, you have to realize that you are probably not getting the complete story. It's just the way this stuff works.
December 11, 200322 yr This would be the worst deal ever unless we got tons of cash, and tons of prospects.
December 11, 200322 yr What if we got Soriano and Weaver and NO cash? Would this be asking to much? Now that would work for me
December 11, 200322 yr Why not throw in Thomas and Konerko, and get Weaver and Perez, in a 3 way with the Dodgers and Yankees? :finger
December 11, 200322 yr Why not throw in Thomas and Konerko, and get Weaver and Perez, in a 3 way with the Dodgers and Yankees? :finger The Dodgers will not give up Brown and Perez. They may give up a reliever and starter but not 2/5 of their rotation unless Driefort is one of the two.
December 11, 200322 yr I heard the Dodgers were looking to rid themselves of LaDuca, how bout, Carlos Lee and Danny Wright to the Dodgers for Laduca and Perez?
