Where'd you hear that? Was it on the radio, on the net, etc.?

It;s been confirmed.....f***!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No way

Thats not a funny Joke

Everyone loves Mark but that move official puts us way over our "Budget" for this year.

Why even go to the winter meetings now? You have no money and teams now know that you HAVE to get rid of your big contracts.

Screw PEREZ, will end up with a trade like Konerko for one of their bat boys now that were way over budget

:bang :bang :bang :bang :bang :bang :bang

6 million a year for Buehrle.......that TO ME seems about right. Hes a potential 20 game winner. Hes a fast worker that doesnt throw many pitches. Atleast now nobody will be b****ing about him going to ST Louis.

But look past this, you have to believe that someone is going somewhere very soon. I agree it wouldnt make sense with our current payroll, but if Maggs/Konerko leave then all of the sudden you have over 20 million to spend.

Glad to see they took care of MB 3 years 18mil isnt all that bad. There may be a trade in the works since were so straped for cash it only make sense that a trade is upon us soon maybe the long rumored dodgers trade will fall through.

He wasn't FA eligible until 2006....and is coming a mediocre season......what were they thinking, we have NO money.

It's really unexpected. Maybe it means Frank Thomas to the Dodgers is still in the offing.

In an era where pitchers are going to be asking for 8-9 mill a season who have posted worse career numbers than Mark (i.e. Ponson), I think we have made a good deal.

I know we had him through 2006, but then we would have to go to arbitation each year until then. By which time, if he kept posting good number he could be closing in on 9 million a year by 2006.

Now we have him through 2006 at 6 mil.

A good deal.

i agree...im not disappointed at all...he is a good pitcher, and we could use a little good news over here, this probably means there are couple of trades about to go down...let the games begin :headbang

checkout chicago sports.com he only is getting 3.75 mil this year it is a progressive rate with an option in 07

The way I see it, Buerhle went through the typical "dead arm" period that most young pitchers face at one time or another, and fortunately, it only lasted a half a season. Nice job by KW to keep Buerhle in the fold. There will be a 20 win season out of him before this deal runs it course.

Where has this been confirmed at? Is it on the official webpage, yahoo, radio...?

I just Checked out the terms of the deal

It actually looks good.

It's backloaded so i retract my earlier post about KW being a joke

Let's just hope those numbers get better

:)

I've seen it on 3 different boards now. It sounds like the Chicago sports radio stations are reporting it.

If anyone has heard the contract details, please post them!

Is it possible that you really have no idea whats going on with the White Sox management and how much money we have, and that KW and JR know a lot more about baseball than you do.

Seems like an awesome deal to me.

go to Chicagosports.com for the contract details

The Score is reporting it.

The White Sox and pitcher Mark Buehrle have agreed to terms on a three-year, $18-million contract that includes a club option for 2007.

Buehrle will receive $3.5 million in 2004, $5.75 million in 2005 and $7.75 million in 2006. The Sox hold an option at $9.5 million with a $1 million buyout for 2007.

The lefty would have been eligible for salary arbitration in each of the next three years and could have become a free agent following the 2006 season.

Buehrle, 24, went 14-14 with a 4.14 ERA in a career-high 35 starts in 2003, his fourth season with the White Sox.

"Mark Buehrle has been a valuable member of this franchise for the last three-plus seasons, and we feel he is one of the top young left-handed pitchers in baseball," said White Sox general manager Ken Williams. "Rick Hahn (White Sox assistant general manager) and Mark's representatives have been working extremely hard on this for the last two years, so it's rewarding to see a long-term agreement come to fruition."

So that $3.5 up front for this year, is a big relief. But of course they backloaded it so they will have to trade him in '06 anyway :bang

Being reported out here. Seems like a fair deal although I hate backloaded contracts. They put a team in a position where you have to unload the player quite often.

Still, this should make Buehrle happy and I am glad to know he'll be on the Southside the next few years.

The option we have on him for 2007 is key in this deal. Would you guys agree?

I think that they will have more money by then with the comcast deal going through.

If Buehrle is winning 20 games then it puts the Sox in a position where they get good value, 9 mill for a 20 game winner is more then fair. If he is struggling then they are out of the contract by paying a mill or can renegotiate the deal.

This seems very fair and I just want to say this is huge for all those that say the Sox were always trying to screw Buehrle cause this is as far of a contract as a young player has gotten.

Finally a little optimism in a pessimistic offsesaon.
