Cali
Here's a quote I don't like: Grilli appears to have virtually assured himself a spot on the roster, but chances of that spot being in the starting rotation are slipping. Um.... how? f***ing Kenny, swallow your pride, give him back to Florida. I don't want him as a fifth starter, I don't want him in the bullpen. Grilli this spring: W: 0 L: 1 ERA: 8.36 G: 4 GS: 4 IP: 14.0 H: 24 R: 13 ER: 13 HR: 2 BB: 8 K: 7 :puke
upnorthsox
Quickman, I appreciate your brutal honesty, but I definitely dont suck and either does Grilli, or anyone playing pro ball for that matter. If we sucked then we would have a day job doing something else. I had a lot of fun today, even though I gave up 4 straight hits before I got a double play ball. That was my first live game against outside competition all spring, not to mention my first ever game throwing sidearm against somebody other than hitters in controlled intra squads. I have only had roughly two weeks to work on it and I accomplished what I wanted to do out there. That is, I threw strikess and competed against some pretty good f***in hitters. My results will come. That is why I have the luxury of spring training to prepare myself for the season because frankly I know I am gonna be in Bham and I am doing whatever it takes to prepare for that. Thanks for your comments because you definitely have the right to think and say what you want. I actually enjoy criticism because it only makes me better in the long run. And if I get another chance this spring or this season or whatever, I promise you I will have better results than I did today! Bull, any disappointment in going back to 'Bham? I'm looking at Charlotte's pen and it's basically Arnie and a handful of converted starters. There's definitely move up room there for a reliever, so keep up the good fight. Also, have you been talking to Cotts at all? I think he's getting jobbed over the final spot.

You bring up an interestin question there upnorthsox. I think if Wright wasn't around, Cotts would probably get the 5th starters job. But, let's say in the first month, Wright has arm problems and is put on the disabled list like last year. Who do you call up to replace him in the rotation? Rauch, Cotts or even sum1 like Josh Stewart, if he starts well in Charlotte? I just think there's goin to be sumthin in the works trade wise, with one of those 3 or other minor league pitchers. I know Bull has said there are a lot of minor league pitchers in Charlotte and Birmingham right now, but at least that brings a lot of competition. I think if Harris continues to struggle, something will go down at second base, maybe a trade for someone like Brian Roberts from Baltimore, but they would need Jerry Hairston Jr. to come back healthy. Rex Hudler
Sometimes people forget that these ballplayers are real human beings. Ripping these guys like what happened here is garbage. I don't want to hear about the big bucks they make, which is not true in this case anyway. Does that mean I can't start the Official Bullard Sucks thread? YASNY
Don't diss on Grilli yet. He's had one bad outing all spring. Sometimes, there are just days like that. I know I've had days that nothing went right. Grilli's stats before this outing were pretty respectable. I think shipping him back to the Fish this soon would be a mistake. Now, as for that Bullard guy .... Cut his ass!

TLAK
Bullard, did Ozzie or Coop say anything to you after you're outing? They liked how I battled and threw strikes, despite the adversity and they liked how I stayed composed throughout the ordeal. I've been thinking about this all day. Last year I one of my biggests rags on JM was that he didn't communicate with his guys. I think it was Ginter who came up and Farmer asked him on the pregame how he would be used, his response was that Coop told him to be ready for anything. Here we have a guy ticketed for Bhama thrown into a game just to keep everybody else on schedule, he had a rough outing but they took the time to talk to him and tell him what they saw. I'm warming to Ozzie and his style, if unconventional, of management and leadership.
