I have to wonder if that photo of the I ::heart:: NY wasn't photoshopped. I mean, it was done with the Kerry/Fonda sharing the stage to try to discredit him. Color me a little bit skeptical.

 

If it was real it was probably either the Maoists or the Spartacus League. They're quite marginalized in the leftist activist community. A lot of people also are against ANSWER because of a lot of the stances that the IWW (ANSWER is essentially affiliated with the IWW) has taken on certain issues especially re: their support of Tienenmen in 1989 and their current support of the suppression of Falun Dafa in China.

I can understand where CW is coming from. But I see your point too.

 

America was founded on free speech -- The Constitution has been ammended 27 times -- There would be no changes to the constitution if not for free speech and free thought.

 

My problem with peoples responces to this post is mostly due to this. And I think this was CW major issue as well.

 

Everyone for Palestine: a Photo Essay.

 

The "photo essay" here, is hardly a photo essay. The photo's here are Mocking peoples differences. The photographer is spreading his view, his ANTI-FREE-SPEECH view, by inculding captions of people who don't shop at the Gap, are Obese, hula-hooping, or just plain goofy. He's trying to discout thier views by making them seem like freaks. What makes thier opinions any less valid than his? Many of the people in this section "everyone for Palestine" don't have any form of propoganda on thier person, the Photographer has labelled them Anti-semitic for simply visiting a park.

 

I don't get dragged into many political conversations around here, but this particular section of "photo essay" is ridiculous. I respect everyones opinion. That's the true american way. -- But if this individual doesn't agree with them he doesn't have to Mock the opposing party. In the Palestine Chic part of the photo's he makes fun of peoples clothing. Thier RELIGIOUS clothing!!!. Why should I respect someone for opressing others religious freedoms?

Honest to God here. I think the ability to protest is what makes this country the greatest in the world.

 

But I have a serious question for you Apu. Why is it when something is malicious from the left wing, you post it as fact. But when it is against the left wing you instantly try to discredit it? There are just as many people in those fringe movements who have vendettas to discredit the other side. Many of them commit illegal acts to further their cause. Why is it such a stretch that there could be the same kind of wakkos on the left as advance some of the insanity of the way religious right? Why would you instantly assume that someone doctored that photo, yet post as fact stories from the same groups of people? It wouldn't surprise me at all for people who are that far to the left, to wear something like that. The fringes are just that, the fringes. Both sides have some real nut jobs advancing some stupid s***.

I said it's either photoshopped or a member of the fringe Spartacus League, Maoists or WWP. There's a few possibilities that I threw out there. My personal inclination is that it was photoshopped (a sentiment shared with some people on Fark.com where I first saw the photo last night and that was their diagnosis...and they are pretty damn efficient at recognizing photoshops)

As for the bin laden quote from a US congressman...I have yet to find it anywhere and I have looked all over for it...If that was said...then I agree with you that it was a ridiculous thing to say. However, it's no more ridiculous than the comparisons of Bush to Hitler. Either way I can't find your quote...

 

So out of all the anti american and socialist communism pictures on there, you point out the "Queers for Palestine" and ramble on about some homophobic hatred. I believe the caption under that picture simply said "queers for palestine" I don't see much hatred in simply stating what the sign said. I also don't see anything outrageous about buddhists..nor did the guy who posted the picture as he simply said "meditators for palestine" Why are you trying to make s*** out to be something it's not.
