Miguel Asencio will undergo Tommy John surgery and miss the season, the Royals announced tonight.

Asencio would have been a top candidate for a rotation spot if he showed up to camp healthy, but his elbow has been giving him problems since last May. He won't be a factor again until 2005.

I would agree with u on that Cheat, except that he's been hammered in Spring Training so far. Still needs a month or 2 at AAA. Who know they mite sign James Baldwin! Here are Zack's numbers,

Haven't followed his spring... It's hard enough to find numbers on guys I actually care about... They are in serious need of pitching help though.

I almost feel bad for the Juggernaut formerly known as the Royals because they have fallen victim to the most infamous curse of em all.

With all the praise that KC has gotten, I don't see how anyone could pick them to win over the Sox or even Twins b/c both have better rotations than the Royals and just as good of a lineup. IMO, Beuhrle is better than Anderson. Loaiza and Garland are better than May and Affeldt. And, Wright and Showe will be, at worst, just as good as Appier and Greinke this year. Appier is on his way down, and had a terrible year last year. And, although I do think Greinke will be a good major league pitcher, I don't think this is his year. He needs more time in the minors. So, if Greinke is their 5th starter this year, I think he'll get beat up pretty badly.

Wow. That is terrible. Not even OK. Terrible. There is one guy on that list that scares me at all, and that is Affeldt.

Anderson may not have great stuff, but he get hitters out. He and Affeldt are the only 2 legit starters they got.

Garland is better Affeldt.

You might want to do some research on that one. Scouts say that he has the nastiest stuff of any young left handed pitcher in the majors. No more blister problems either, as he had a chunk of the fingernail removed which was causing them.

But I wouldn't touch anyone else on that pitching staff with a 10 foot pole.

Ya Affeldt can be tough. Anderson is a solid number 4 starter. 'Nuff said.

When is Runvelys Hernandez supposed to be pitchin for them again. Pretty sure he was da guy who beat Colon in the season opener last season.

Got to agree with you.It's kind of like what Jack McDowell said in his Yahoo column,the Sox are "the best of a mediocre bunch" (and that's word for word).

Personally,I like the fact that the pressure is on KC and the Twinkies.Let them feel what its like to be the favorite.The Sox have melted under the pressure of being the favorite over the past 3 years.Let's see what happens when nothing is expected of this team.
