Thoughts on the Minnesota series as a whole.

-Juan Uribe & Miguel Olivo are f***ing awesome. PERIOD!

-Loaiza & Burhle are money in big games

-The roulette wheel spinning to see who starts as the 5th starter is killing us.

-Joe Crede needs a new glove.........and needs to start taking a telephone pole up to the plate with him instead of a baseball bat.

-If we think we can play as sloppily on defense as we did today & rely on the bats to bail us out we're going to be dissappointed more often than not.

-The safest place to be is sitting on the seat in a dunk tank with Jose Valentin throwing the balls.

-Magglio is ......well........Magglio

-Nice to see the Big Skirt er Hurt coming around and raising up his average

The series was huge. This really reminded me of the 2000 Sox. The way the offense put together huge innings and huge outbursts consistently and the way they showed up against a top team. Granted I still think the 2000 Sox are way ahead of where this team is.

Yes indeed. :headbang

My thoughts:

I honestly thought we were in a bad spot, but we would win with a minor injury...we took 3-4 and didn't surrender an injury, and Magglio is better.

-Worried about Harris...

-Not worried about Rowand, he absolutely tore the cover off the ball today.

Overall great effort by the Sox...

My thoughts

1) Missed seeing my favorite player, Willie Harris, in the lineup and hope he doesn't miss a step.

2) Happy to see Aaron raise his average up even if it was only a little.

3) Should of had a sweep, but i'll take 3/4 :headbang :headbang :headbang

one thing to add: that turf is awesome it takes the advantage that the twins had with the astroturf away. hopefully the sox can keep it up in the metrodome this year and beyond! :headbang

Magglio.....is well...gone after the season. Enjoy the show while it lasts.

It was a sweet series, I'll tell you that much for sure. Saturday night sucked ass. Konerko missed a 3-run homer by maybe a foot. At that point in the game, it was like 4-1 and a 3-run homer would have been huge. Politte showed why he deserves to be given a one-way trip to Charlotte/the FA pool. You can't get by with 96-97 MPH heat alone(another thing I noticed with him...he throws a slow 97 fastball...some pitchers hide the ball well and 92 looks like 96 coming out of their hands...well, to me atleast, Politte's 96 fastball looks about like 92...it is very hittable). I told my dad that, while it was 9-1, it seemed to be a lot closer then a 9-1 game. Seemed more like 5-1 game or so. Also, I got a foul ball off the bat of Torii Hunter. He hit it in the 8th, and it bounced off a seat or a fan, bounced off my brother's face(he's OK), and I grabbed it. It was awesome.

Today was much better(obviously). Garland pitched like s*** right away, but settled down after the 4th. He definately looked a lot better after the 4th inning. It seemed that Johan was very hittable today. The only thing that was wrong was that Frank should have been 1-4...his INF single was not a single at all. Guzman fielded it, and then got stuck in the turf. The bullpen seemed to pitch well enough to get the job done.

This definately did feel like 2000. This team is starting to give me that feeling that they can go out everyday and get 6 or 8 or 10 runs. They hit Johan pretty well today.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with the way this team is playing. They are past their bad month and are heading into the month they usually play the best in. I look forward to seeing how well this team plays. I still feel they are an ace pitcher away. Garland proved he shouldn't be counted on as a #3 pitcher in the playoffs, though I could see him as a #4...depends on how Scho pitches this year. They look good right now. Keep winning series, and they'll be fine.

I'll take 3/4 on a road series from our division rivals any day of the week. I couldn't have asked for a better outcome for a series. I will never expect a team to sweep a 4 game series, ever. The sox really impressed me this weekend.

Rowand is the White Sox answer to ShamME Sosa. Garbage time is ShamME time and the same can be said for Rowand. He's always "clutch" when the score is lopsided one way or the other. It's when you need him to come up big when he goes out 6-3.

This may be true, but he pulled a SamME from game 1 of the NLCS last year against the Cubbies and actually had a huge homer off of Alfon-six-a. We were down 6-4, and Aaron hit a 2-run homer to tie it up.

Personally, I don't think Rowand is a garbage, non-clutch player. He just doesn't hit righties worth a s***.

Witesoxfan, where were you sitting?

I agree--I was way happy with the series. But the defense left a lot to be a desired. Hopefully they can step that up. That was the most painful thing of the games I went to--when Jon wasn't pitching well I just wanted the defense to help him out...

But I feel sooooooo much better about our team after seeing them play (and I think I saw just about everyone). White Sox

Even a blind squirrel finds a nut occasionally ;)

Behind the Sox bullpen on Saturday(sec 116, row 27), behind the Twins dugout on Sunday(sec 133, row 18)

One thing to note, the last few years, after the disasterous first inning, the Sox would have folded (against the Twins). Today, they looked pissed, which is GREAT! They came back, made it 3 out of 4, and for at least tonight, all is well.

First of all, the first inning wasn't what I would call disasterous. We gave up a 3-run lead. Big deal.

Secondly, this team wouldn't quit against the Twins. They aren't a smart team, hell, I'd go as far as saying they ARE a stupid team. But they aren't THAT stupid. They realize what these games mean on the schedule.

They did not give up in big games like this with a rival. Do not forget, it was only two years ago they were down 8-0 to the crosstown losers and came back and won 13-9. In important games, those teams did not quit under Manuel.

Give JM the credit he deserved. He was not a good manager, and the players did not respond to him at the end of his reign. But he was not the worst manager in the world, and some people make him out to be the worst manager in the world.

Be glad Don Baylor wasn't our manager. You wanna talk about a bad manager.

A great series by the Sox. It doesn't mean much if we drop a series to the Rangers though. I hope our bats stay hot for awhile.

We need the 5th starter. I dont know if it has been posted but I just read in the Monday trib that Rauch could be next. If it is, hopefully he'll :bringit

series as a whole AWESOME, back in first 3 of 4 at the dome. they only beat our 5th starter and our offense came through in these 4 huge games. im happy to be a white sox fan.

Other series notes:

Neal Cotts, you have Jon Garland 2002-03 syndrome. Two strikes, no problem. Third strike/batted out, big problem. You'll be fine, just need to learn a few lessons about pitching in the big leagues.

Joe Crede, have you ever hit a ground ball? Big hole in your swing, I dont have any confidence that you're anything other than Ron Karkovice the Third Baseman.

Jose Valentin, yesterday's game, when you struck out swinging in the second? or third inning? Everyone in the stadium knew that you were getting a breaking ball low and out of the strike zone with a 2-strike count, and you swung and missed anyways. In fact, everytime you get two strikes on you, you get a breaking pitch low and out of the zone, and you swing and miss. Please stop this, as it is getting predictable, to add on top of annoying. Oh, and Jose, don't bunt again, ever.

Shingo Takatsu, for striking out someone on a 50 mph pitch, you are my hero

Miguel Olivo, your throwing arm is overrated. It's good, but not nearly as good as many say it is.

Carlos Lee, you need a courtesy runner. Everytime you get picked off, or get incorrectly called safe on a pickoff attempt, any Sox fan with little league playing experience loses a year off his/her life.

Cliff Politte, you may be a genius scientist, but the baseball season is no time to experiment with swapping the 2004 Cliff Politte with the 2003 Cliff Politte. That is not nice, please put the 2004 version of you back where you belong right away! However, if you'd like to bring the 2003 Damaso Marte into the present and switch him with the current version, that would be acceptable.

That was awesome!!! :headbang

He also hasn't given up a run, whether earned or not, since April 20th.
