July 4, 200421 yr Let's take a reasonable look at this. Shingo has a better ERA, WHIP, and record. How is Tom Gordon on the team? Bulls***. Ortiz vs. Frank or Konerko is reasonable and Ken Harvey is the lone Royal. That's fine. Belliard has better stats than Uribe. That's fine. We got ripped, but not as badly as you guys are making it out to be.
July 4, 200421 yr I am dumbfounded by this whole thing, and though I wasn't gonna be able to watch anyway because I work nights, I'm not even gonna bother to tape it. It's been said before, but I'll say it again. Get rid of the fan voting and get rid of the "every team needs a rep" rule, because this s*** ends up pissing off more people than it pleases. Even more necessary now because of this stupid home-field advantage rule. Has baseball ever done anything logical though? They've destroyed a whole franchise in Montreal, when nobody thought it could get any worse. Somehow the geniuses that run this sport found a way.
July 4, 200421 yr Brantley says T.Gordan is the best set-up man in MLB the s*** is getting real deep.
July 4, 200421 yr Why is Takatsu getting snubbed over Gordon? Honestly, why? Or over Foulke? Doesn't have the high strike out numbers or the history.
July 4, 200421 yr Why is Takatsu getting snubbed over Gordon? Honestly, why? Or over Foulke? Because he plays on the wrong side of Chicago and New York is the epicenter of the universe. C'mon, you should know better by now!
July 4, 200421 yr Doesn't have the high strike out numbers or the history. Strikeouts are overrated. Who cares how you get them out?
July 4, 200421 yr Well, we play as a team, so if individual players don't get selected, so what? Being an all star is overrated, and in Paul Konerko's case 2 yeras ago, it totally f***ed up his game. That probably had something to do with the HR derby, too. Our players need to reast and concentrate on winning games.
July 4, 200421 yr Strikeouts are overrated. Who cares how you get them out? That's all certain people look at.
July 4, 200421 yr Author Look at the bright side, fellas: Our boys will be nice and rested, to go on a f***ing tear after the All-Star break. And Thomas, Konerko, Uribe, and Buerhle, all feeling snubbed about not being selected, dominate in the ALDS to beat the Yanks in four. (Knock on wood, but f*** yeah! ) It's funny, though, that the one guy that goes (Loaiza), doesn't even deserve to be there.
July 4, 200421 yr Giambi getting the start at 1st base...what a crock. Fan voting is such BS. You could put Carl Yastrzemski on the ballot he'd get voted as a starter because they recognize the name. Hell, put a Yankee jersey on a corpse and it's almost guaranteed a starting spot.
July 4, 200421 yr I think they said ELo was voted in by fellow players. on espn it says by torre and MLB
July 4, 200421 yr Someone please wake me up and tell me that Flash didnt make this team. What is Torre smoking. Loaiza over MB. The second best hitting team in the majors gets no players. This makes me wanna puke. :puke
July 4, 200421 yr Well, if it makes you feel any better, the Twins only got one player too, so, that is kind of vindication
July 4, 200421 yr I feel bad for Beltran. Since the AL players voted him in he is unable to play in the game. But he can be there and stuff.
July 4, 200421 yr Author f*** off Torre, everyone deserves to be there my f***ing ass. Giambi deserves to be there? Jeter deserves to be there? Gordon deserves to be there? Bulls***.
July 4, 200421 yr Well, if it makes you feel any better, the Twins only got one player too, so, that is kind of vindication I even feel bad for them. No Lew Ford? But please, by all means, take Gary Sheffield. Dumb bastards.
July 4, 200421 yr Author It's not even an All-Star game anymore. It's an All-Who's the Most Popular among Fans, Players, Manager-Game. It should be about the numbers, but unfortunately, it isn't.
