Grilli...

Featured Replies

I missed the game last night. I saw that he gave up 5 runs in the first inning. How did he pitch? Was he better than any other tee-stand from AAA? Will he get another start? WHy all the questions?

He had control problems and walked three men in the first inning. They all scored. Other than the first, he pitched very well. No more walks after he settled down. I hope he gets another start after finishing strong yesterday.

These kids can play

Keep playing the AAA boys and see if any have value.

Not good. All of our rookies suck and the only one who had 1 good outing was Diaz, and Rauchs last outing. The rest have been blown out in the first inning.

Grilli should just keep the # 5 spot for the rest of the year. lets see what he can do

The sooner you realize that Stewart and Grilli are worthless, the better. Looking for silver linings (especiallly where there are none) is what fans of loser teams do well.

Diaz, Yofu and Munoz are the ones who should be getting these starts. They have actually earned the promotion based on their semi-dominant AA performance. Yes, I know they are likely to get hammered, but there is also a chance 1 of them can be a decent 5th starter. Grilli and Stewart are hopeless.

It's truly amazing that no one in the entire system can step into that 5th starter spot with ANY degree of success. Really really disappointing and frustrating.

It's also interesting how lower expectations bring different reactions to how a pitcher does. If Jon Garland gives up 5 runs in the first inning but then "settles down" and doesn't allow another run, everyone would be calling for his head on a stick. Grilli does it and 1/2 the people ( EDIT TO CLARIFY - not 1/2 the people in this thread, but in general ) will want to put him into the rotation for the rest of the year. I understand the reasoning, but it's still funny to me...

Honestly, Grilli didn't do much worse than any other #5 starter in the majors.

He pitched well after the 1st inning.

Note to Jason (Grilli): When throwing to first base, keep the ball where Frankenstein (Konerko) can reach it.

Garland is supposed to perform better than he is.

Not as much is expected with Grilli because not much was put into acquiring him. (Rule 5)

Garland has been on the Sox for what... 5 plus years? He hasn't improved into a top starter like he should. He WAS a #1 pick after all.

Grilli is new. But, if he continues to struggle, he won't even be given the same leeway as Garland currently gets.

He will be sent outright to AAA or released.

Apparently he did well enough to earn another start:

From Chicagosports.com:

CLEVELAND -- Jason Grilli impressed White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen enough in Friday's 6-3 loss that he will start on three days' rest Tuesday against Oakland.

With Grilli starting Tuesday, Freddy Garcia will start Wednesday to keep the rotation intact.

"[Garcia] feels a lot better and hopefully he will continue to improve," Guillen said. "I don't want to mess around with the rotation. Grilli is young and can come back."

Garcia said he will throw on the side before Sunday's series finale against the Indians. He said he's not concerned the tightness he has in his forearm will affect the elbow.

"It's in the muscle, so I don't worry about it," Garcia said. "It's in the forearm and not the elbow. I'm throwing [sunday], and if I feel pretty good ..."

Might as well give him a shot ya know. ;)

Cannot hurt any, if some one has to suck why not just have it be him.
