August 29, 200421 yr Since Cleveland has a ton of outifielders and Grady Sizemore being their future, do you all think they'd entertain a trade, Garland for Jody Gerut???
August 29, 200421 yr I wouldn't say that's equal value at all, Gerut has struggled this year, and Garland could turn around and get it like that. So I'll say no to that.
August 29, 200421 yr I'm sure there would be more players involved, but IMO, the deal is a win-win for both teams. But I think Cleveland would trade Crisp before they would trade Gerut.

I can't really see Cleveland wanting to deal with us though. If we lose Garland though, we'll probably hav to sign 2 starters in the offseason.

August 29, 200421 yr I would not trade Garland for Gerut alone... but I will agree with your thoughts that Gerut is most likely on the move. Unless he can prove last year wasn't a fluke, he simply looks like a Good 4th OF. I think someone out there will give the Tribe some pitching for him... but I don't think that pitching will be the caliber of Garland. *Cleveland also has an abundace of 1B/DH in Hafner, Broussard, Phelps, and add Blake to that mix once Aaron Boone takes over at third. The Tribe could really solidify their bullpen with a deal in the offseason.

They've been much better since Bob Wickman and Bobby Howry have been pitching though, but they'd definitely want to add 2 more guys in there at least. Another starter to join Sabathia, Lee and Westbrook would be pretty high on the list as well, but don't expect them to break the bank.

August 29, 200421 yr Yeah they wouldn't trade with us at all. Just because they are in the same division does not mean they would not trade for us.
August 29, 200421 yr If I'm Shapiro, I jump on that deal faster than a pimply-faced geek jumps on a drunken horny supermodel. Cleveland is just a starting pitcher or two away from being one of the AL's best teams. With that offense, the Injuns could overcome a lot of Garland's bad innings - he could have a 4.70 ERA and still win 15-17 games. Plus, the league seems to have caught up with Gerut, and he hasn't made the adjustments. And this is coming from a guy who sometimes rips Garland a new oraphus.
August 29, 200421 yr why would cle make any trade when they can address their pitching in the offseason thru the fa market.
