August 30, 200421 yr Look above my sig. You, Minny, and DB are on my "special" list.. rolleyeyes.gif I never did like you, did I ace?
August 30, 200421 yr Zito is definitely more proven, I understand how people would want zito more, but Pavano has been the guy I've wanted for a while, everytime I watch the guy pitch he impresses me more and more, I just think Pavano is an absolute stud, but you can't go wrong either way. Zito is younger, already has a 20 win season and a Cy Young under his belt, and is a lefty we can use to compliment Buehrle in the rotation. I'd take a 25 yr old Zito who is pitching in the AL over a 28 yr old Pavano who is pitching in the NL in a heartbeat.

I was talking to qwerty, I wasn't talking to you. :headshake Anyways, I said I understand where you guys are coming from, just to me pavano is a better pitcher, it's jmo.
August 30, 200421 yr Depends on the prospect. Well, I'll be the first to tell you that I don't follow he minors as most of you do, so I don't know who's has a lot of value and is expendable. Maybe that McCarthy Dude, or that guy related to Mike Sweeney, or that OF we have who also pitches for the Royals.
August 30, 200421 yr Depends on the prospect. I'm still wondering if Billy Beane would take back his former pitching prospect.. I wouldn't mind giving them Munoz/Diaz etc.. though as far as pitching. Don't know what they'd want to have.
August 30, 200421 yr I was talking to qwerty, I wasn't talking to you. :headshake :finger Now be a good boy and you can be taken off the list..

I just feel pavano is another player that goes crazy in their contract year. Then slips back to mediocracy.

August 30, 200421 yr I just feel pavano is another player that goes crazy in their contract year. Then slips back to mediocracy. Fair enough, I disagree but we can agree to disagree.
August 30, 200421 yr Pavano has the potential to fall into mediocrity. But Zito ALREADY fell into mediocrity. Frankly, I would take either though.
August 30, 200421 yr I think we can forget about getting Pavano. I have heard he wants to stay in Florida, and Florida wants him to stay. The Marlins traded Brad Penny, with the idea that Pavano will be resigned. While I'd love to have him on the Sox, I am sure he will be staying in Florida.

August 30, 200421 yr And if he doesn't he WILL end up with the Sox.... The Red Sox I actually think he will go to the red sox before he stays with the marlins.
August 30, 200421 yr The Red Sox Why do you say that? They have a ton of holes to fill. Does anyone think Pedro would sign with the Yanks?
August 30, 200421 yr Why do you say that? They have a ton of holes to fill. Does anyone think Pedro would sign with the Yanks? He was originally drafted by them and they always have the many to spend.
August 30, 200421 yr Why do you say that? They have a ton of holes to fill. Does anyone think Pedro would sign with the Yanks? He was traded for Pedro once... I see him replacing him again... Pedro is going to get a dose of the 15-year-old-who-just-got-dumped-by-the-hot-girl-and-now-has-to-make-it-look-like-he-doesn;t-really-want-her-anyway-Boston-Media, just like Nomar and others have recieved.
August 30, 200421 yr After looking at this article, I Guarantee Pavano doesn't come here. He wants a pitcher friendly park and a good defensive team. That is not our identity. I still say he stays in Florida. http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/basebal...-sports-marlins
August 30, 200421 yr Here's my team (aquisions in bold): C-Davis/Burke 1B-Konerko 2B-Hairston/Harris Platoon (Hairston aquired in a trade.) 3B-Bill Mueller SS-Juan Uribe LF-Lee CF-Rowand RF-Drew/Catalanatto (Not both - just one.) DH-Thomas (Everett, Gload, Perez, among others, lining the bench.) Rotation: Garcia Buehrle Clement Contreras Garland (Rotation is - meh, I dunno. I'd rather have a lefty in it, but the only even slightly good lefty on the market is Odalis Perez. If this team has real balls, go after Pedro. Obvious.) Bullpen: Adkins/Diaz Cotts Politte Marte Shingo Kline Mota (If available for a trade. Mota to Shingo would be almost as good as Mota to Gagne. Hell - a healthy Marte to Mota to Shingo is - nasty, to say the least.) Thoughts? I know it's a long thread, but I'm interested in anyone's input on this.
