September 16, 200421 yr Here are mine: Flattop Grill, the greatest restaurant of them all Chicago Chop House, mmmmmm filet mignon. Lou Malnatti's mmmmmm butter crust deep dish.
September 16, 200421 yr I like Ditkas alot. They got some great pork chops, but I like Gibsons stake house the best. My mouth starts to salivate as soon as reach the city.
September 16, 200421 yr Trying to stay with real Chicago stuff... Giordanos and Ditkas are great, as it Magnum's.
September 16, 200421 yr Can we include Chicago 'burbs too? My favorite restaurant by far is Traverso's.
September 16, 200421 yr Can we include Chicago 'burbs too? My favorite restaurant by far is Traverso's. That is one of Brain's favorites. He keeps telling me he is going to take me there, but we never make it... My favorites: Palermos Jenny's Steak House (111th and just off central) Italian villiage (about a block from my dad's work - on Monroe I think) I am sure I will think of more later...
September 16, 200421 yr Morton's Mike's Chicken Going to Mikes today I did only include fine dining. If we are including lunch spots... Billy Goat Mike's Chicken Gold Coast Dogs Harold's Chicken Shack
September 16, 200421 yr Going to Geno's East (it is east, right?) today! Having lunch with the guy that was my boss at my last job. (We were the only Sox fans there so it was easy to stay friends after we left the company.) Edited September 16, 200421 yr by Queen Prawn
September 16, 200421 yr Lou Malnati's Park Ribs on Archer Las Tablas on Lincoln - excellent Colombian cuisine Fireplace Inn on Wells Redfish on State and of course, US Cellular Field......I HIGHLY recommend the churro......
September 16, 200421 yr One of the guys I used to work with swore by Lou's for his pizza. I wasn't very impressed by it when I had it. I've tried two locations and neither were that great. I guess I am just too used to southside pizza lol.
September 16, 200421 yr Take Out -- Fat Johnnie's(south Western Ave.), Cida(Countryside), Mario's Deli(Bensenville), Vito & Nick's(south Pulaski -- but for sandwiches only, their pizza is horrible), Rosangela's(Evergreen Park), Fuji Grill(Forest Park), Panes(north Sheffield) Sit Down -- Khyber Pass(Oak Park), Jack Gibbons(Orland Park), Morton's(Chicago and Westchester) Duck Walk(north, er Damen? I forgot), Mykha's(Glen Ellyn) Pappadeaux(Westmont), Marbuzet(Forest Park) This list could go on forever. No chains allowed--they are the source of all things evil.
September 16, 200421 yr No chains allowed--they are the source of all things evil. Truer words were never spoken.
September 16, 200421 yr Author Weiner Circle baby, my friends dad owns. A wonderful hookup after a long nght of drinking, also have to love the staff yelling " what the f*** do you want, you dirty cracker"
September 16, 200421 yr i believe pappadeaux is a chain, btw. good stuff though. I think he was referring to the s***ty chains like Chili's, Applebee's, etc.
September 16, 200421 yr trudat shuf. i believe pappadeaux is a chain, btw. good stuff though. You're right -- they are a chain. They are my one exception I guess. I initially thought they only had the two chichagoland locations, but later realized there were more of them.
September 16, 200421 yr Ron of Japan!!! Did they close down Houstons?? That place had the best ribs around....
September 16, 200421 yr Gibson's is amazing. The Como Inn is a great place. Love Heaven on Seven for Cajun. Barcelona for tapas. Of course, some of these places might be closed since I haven't lived full-time in Chicago since 1995. Having lived in 3 other cities....Chicago is #1 or #2 in the country in terms of places to eat. (Boston, otherwise sucking, has the greatest restaurant of all time, Dali).
September 17, 200421 yr Myron and Phil's (Lincolnwood) Best Skirt Steaks in the world! Smith and Wollensky's - Awesome steaks and great seafood! Las Pasaditas- Ashland and Division...awesome burritos.
September 19, 200421 yr It's too hard to choose the best but I can tell you a place to avoid. For anyone who has ever been to Union Station they have a chinese food restaurant there in the upper levels at the food court. It is absolutely terrible.
