September 17, 200421 yr his lineups are so f***ed up Gload LF Timo RF LEE DH Valentine SS what we need is uribe/valdez SS LEE LF Borchard RF Valentine Bench Gload DH is not at 1b he is horrible in the of
September 17, 200421 yr 100 percent agree with you. Ozzie has been playing his favorites way too long. Borchard needs to play everyday, simple as can be. There's no reason not to let Uribe get a lot of reps at SS to see if he can play there next year. This organization is clueless, no other way to describe it.
September 17, 200421 yr The season means NOTHING anymore, so who cares? But I agree of why he isn't playing young guys. I'm hoping he's trying to pad stats, or give some guys who suck (Valentin and Crede) playing time.

I'm hoping he's trying to pad stats, or give some guys who suck (Valentin and Crede) playing time. Exactly, the season means nothing! That's why you let your young players get some experience. Who's to say that Borchard doesnt hit 5 homers the rest of the way, and his trade value goes up? There's nothing to gain by playing Timo, Valentin, etc.
September 17, 200421 yr Author the line up should be 2b harris lf Lee 1b konerko CF rowand DH gload SS uribe/valdez C davis/Burke 3b crede/uribe RF borchard there should be no reason for anyone else to play with everet hurt, alomar hurt we need to see what this group can do for next year not seeing valentine waste experince, and players playing in spots they dont belong gload OF Valdez 2b etc. The season is over i can admit that now.
September 17, 200421 yr I could not agree with you guys more. You're correct Gload should never be in the outfield.
September 17, 200421 yr I just have to ask, when is Ozzie going to start to be blamed for this disaster of a season? This team flat out quit on him a long time ago it seems like, and Ozzie made no changes at all at the proper time to make this team better. He didnt have the balls to replace Koch when he should have, and ended up letting the Sox blow 2 more games before he made the change. I have no confidence in Ozzie being able to successfully manage this team in the future.
September 17, 200421 yr Author when is the last experienced head coach the sox have hired??? they need to stop going after bench coaches and 3b coaches, i wish we could get sholwalter or someone with some fire in there belly that has excperience in head coaching, wally is still would have been my choice for manager since he did coach most these guys in the minors.
September 17, 200421 yr wally is still would have been my choice for manager since he did coach most these guys in the minors. I thought these guys hated playing under Backman. And why would you want someone who was looking forward to seeing us "get our asses kicked" near the end of a pennant chase to our divison leader?
September 17, 200421 yr Author I thought these guys hated playing under Backman. And why would you want someone who was looking forward to seeing us "get our asses kicked" near the end of a pennant chase to our divison leader? i still dont belive that one bit. do you really belive that it would get leaked out if he did say it come on yea the twins manger are friends with him from the past but how would it get leaked out(from a private conversation between the two) FYI players dont have to like the manager, they do have to respect him though. when they are buddy buddy with a manager you get favortism.
September 17, 200421 yr Backman is a great manager. The players liked playing for him and played hard. Unfortunately, he wanted the job a little too badly and alienated some people along the way last year. I don't buy that story that came out of Minnesota, but I do know that Wally was led to believe he would get the Sox job and he talked about it. All that said, don't be surprised if he is managing the Arizona Diamondbacks next year.
September 17, 200421 yr the line up should be 2b harris lf Lee 1b konerko CF rowand DH gload SS uribe/valdez C davis/Burke 3b crede/uribe RF borchard there should be no reason for anyone else to play with everet hurt, alomar hurt we need to see what this group can do for next year not seeing valentine waste experince, and players playing in spots they dont belong gload OF Valdez 2b etc. The season is over i can admit that now. Harris Rowand Lee Konerko Gload Uribe Davis-Burke Crede Borchard with Valdez playing about 10 games or so down the stretch. Rowand's not a cleanup hitter, and Lee is better suited elsewhere in the lineup. While we're at it...shutdown Garcia for the season and let him rest his arm, and put Diaz in there too.

Agree completely... The only defense I can give Ozzie is that Carlos is hurting a little bit, so he's trying to give him some time off from teh hard turf in Minny by putting him at DH today. But Timo should never see the Line-up and Gload should only be used in the OF in emergencies. Oh and Backman would have been a much better choice for this team.
September 17, 200421 yr Yeah, Ozzie has give up lineups. His attitude has changed a lot since the beginning of the year. I guess it's understandable though.
September 17, 200421 yr Where's Cito Gaston now? I kinda would have liked to see how he did with this team. I don't think Ozzie has done a terrible job though.

September 17, 200421 yr Yes. Ozzie's a joke as manager. He's only been wearing a major league uniform since 1985 and knows nothing about the game. We all are much better at putting together a lineup and we all know when to s*** can somebody be they are going to blow 2 saves. So on and so forth, blah blah blah ....
September 17, 200421 yr Since all hope is lost, why not this lineup: SS Valdez CF Rowand 1B Lee ( to see if he can play there if PK is dealt ) DH Konerko LF Gload/Timo 3B Uribe C Davis/Burke RF Borchard 2B Harris See what Valdez can do up top, let Gload and Timo stumble around LF, let PK rest his AILING HIP, give Uribe the rest of the playing time at 3rd and SIT CREDE, and keep Borchard and Harris low in the order where they belong.

I see one thing I would change and that is get Valdez hitting 2nd. Either his future is in the 8th spot or 2 spot since he doesn't believe in taking walks. We need to see if he can handle the bat good enough to be a two hitter, if not we know he is a bottom of the order guy.
September 17, 200421 yr Is Ozzie filling out the card this way to prove who he doesn't want on the team next year? It's the only thing I could come up to explain those lineups...
September 17, 200421 yr People critique their friends, neighbors, bosses, politicians, that new restaurant in town and MLB managers among other things. It's just part of life. Some folks have very informed opinions and others don't. As far as Ozzie goes he's opened himself up to a ton of criticism IMHO. Supposedly he wants to play an entirely different brand of baseball and he has the ear of GM Kenny Williams. If he gets his wish then we'll see for sure if he can manage. I do know this. He has shown an extreme case of foot in mouth itis, his on field moves often leave you scratching your head, and just like Manuel last year this team QUIT on him. This year has not been a raging success for Ozzie to say the least. It's still too early to say that he is a total bust as a manager but if 2004 is any indication then he certainly will be. As for me, I think that the Reinsdorf era has given us only two above average managers and none since Jeff Torborg. JR wants to win. I believe he does or at least thinks he does. Nevertheless, come hell or high water he's going to do it his way! His way does not include going top drawer for managers or GMs. Loyalty, predictability, control and keeping costs low are more important. Kind of hard to win that way don't you think? In any case, Ozzie has just about convinced me that he fits in with Lamont, Bevington, Manuel, etc. About some of these lineups offered here. When will people finally see enough of Joe Borchard to know that he is not a ball player?
September 17, 200421 yr Anybody else notice that Sporting News has chosen Wally Backman as it's Minor League manager of the Year? He should have been the Sox manager!
September 17, 200421 yr It should be obvious now that since this group of players has underachieved, shown a complete lack of fundamentals, played heartless baseball, gotten humiliated by a team with less talent, repeatedly choked in pressure situations, etc. under TWO DIFFERENT managers, the problem AIN'T the manager. Regardless of who that happens to be. The problem is the players, and many of them need to be shown the door.
