Yossarian
Are we simply anemic without Maggs and Hurt or did the team quit on Oz? Our effort of late has suggested we are a pathetic baseball team right now. With Maggs and Frank the Sox still weren't a playoff team. Without them they were just plain awful. Lastly, the team did quit on Ozzie and one month sooner than they quit on Jerry. Sox fans have been living off of the hype of the 2000 season for too long. That team was a first half wonder. Since then failure after failure. I know Sox fans don't want to hear it but we have to rebuild again. I don't envy KW, we're not just a couple of players away, even if Frank and Maggs return and have big years. This team is a whole bunch of players away, and in need of an attitude and personality transplant.
beck72
Maggs and Frank covered up a lot of the holes. One good thing has come out of their injuries, though. It made it very clear that the Sox "core" isn't what we fans/ mgmt imagined it to be. And the Sox can be rebuilt to be a better team that isn't so frustrating and medicore. Xero
The Sox suck, they are a bunch of quitters and chokers.
He_Gawn
To many threads say the same exact things.
greg775
Good point, he gawn, but i didn't know if we'd addressed the issue if the guys quit on Oz. If they did, that's alarming.
TheBlackSox8
I think the sox, minus a few players, suck....AND they also quit on Ozzie. So...Both of your questions are true.
greg775
I hope Dork our owner realizes attendance figures are going to SUCK next year after this quit-job. They better re-tool the team smartly. WHo the heck is gonna buy season tix for next year after this debacle?
Palehosefan
Don't worry greg, there will be season ticket holders next year. We get fooled every year into believing we are gonna win the division next year. Same song, different verse. 2nd place, and mediocre draft position. Someone needs to break us out of that cycle. winninguglyin83
They're bad. They quit. The pitching is in shambles. There aren't any prospects ready to contribute next year. The general manager does not inspire any faith. The owner is cheap. My advice: Cheer for the team the Cubs are playing. We got no run for the next few years. JDsDirtySox
Pardon me for asking... But what players quit on this team? I feel we simply aren't good enough.

Right, we can rebuild with all those great major league prospects at Charlotte.
CWSGuy406
The Sox suck, they are a bunch of quitters and chokers. And if the Sox were winning, we'd be the best team that was ever put onto a baseball field. Both ends of the spectrum. Know what I'm sayin'? Probably not, but my point remains the same. I hate to say it, but I have a feeling it is going to get worse before it gets better
beck72
Right, we can rebuild with all those great major league prospects at Charlotte. The Sox will have better baseball players next year, either through trades or free agency. This much is certain. Ozzie and KW's careers depend on fielding a team of "grinders", guys who can play the way Ozzie has been talking about.
israel4ever
Casey Stengel, Billy Martin, Earl Weaver, etc., none of them could have won with the "suckfest" that is the 2004 Whitesox.
AngelasDaddy0427
With Mags and Frank we are in 1st place. I'm sorry but this was a good team (especially after we finally got our rotation in order) until they got hurt. You can't blame them too much for that. BlackBetsy
4.99 Team ERA speaks for itself. The Sox had very little starting pitching and bullpen all year long. Garland with a 5 ERA, Garcia even has 4.95 in a Sox uniform... Contreras looking like a disaster, and with the 5th start spot a rotating catastrophe, it isn't hard to understand why this team is going to be .500. WilliamTell
I wish I knew what exactly happened. Obviously losing Frank and Maggs hurt them a lot but it seemed to be such a positive environment earlier in the year and now it's not.
