What about Mike Myers as a LOOGy? (Left-handed, One Out GuY)

Rather have a lefty that can get some righties out. He is definitely not that.

Myers has similar delivery to Shingo, but just from the other side. Just imagine how perplexed hitters facing the Sox could get. :)

Rheal Cormier could be a guy the White Sox look at, if they miss out on Kline and want a lefty, or Jim Mecir who most teams thought was retiring. There was a piece I read on Cormier yesterday which showed he only gave up 1 home run like Tavarez did, but I'll have to find it to make sure.

Cormier also was thinking about retiring but once bowa got fired he felt he wants to come back to the philles and the phillies want him back.

I don't know the details of Williamson's recovery, but from what I read he may be ready towards the end of next year. I know it's no sure thing, but I still like the idea of signing him to a 2-year deal (kind of a Lieber-style deal), if he'd be game for it. He's an awfully good pitcher, and even those couple months would be easily worth minimum annual salary. He'd be on the 60-day dl, so he wouldn't take up a roster spot, and you'd have a second closer-calibre pitcher, for insurance and for 2006.

Does anyone know the status of Chad Bradford? I was thinking he was a FA this winter but haven't heard his name mentioned. He may a similar delivery to Shingo but is a totally different pitcher.

Also, Cal Eldred would not be my first choice, but I wouldn't be at all unhappy if that was one former Sox brought back into the fold.

He could return next year but i don't see him chancing it by rushing it back and getting injured again. I think it is a safe bet that he will be out all next year and ready for spring training in 2006.

I believe Bradford is arb eligible for Oakland, but they could look to move him, due to his price increasing, and them having a solid corps of relievers down there.

And I would like Eldred too...he's a gamer.

i would like nelson, his injuries may hurt his value tho. but wast osuna out with injury most of this last season? ... eldred seemed to be okay in setup role, but if you remember when he was with the sox, he had a stress fracture that was said would never really heal, so he could be not a good choice either

I would like to have Eldred back on the cheap due to arm troubles in the past. I picked Jeff nelson because he's always been so tough on righties that he'd be another good bridge guy. I wouldn't bring in Percival under pretty much any circumstance because Shingo doesn't deserve to have his job threatened. He proved he could pitch well in the bigs, let's grab a set-up guy and use more money on our starter.

From what i remember it was nothing with he arm it was mostly with his groin. I think he would a pretty solid pick-up for pretty cheap.

Eldred has fully recovered from that. He had a screw put in ... it healed ... had it taken out and pitched all year with the Cardinals last season.

did he decide it would be less of a chance of damage if he only did bullpen work, or was it stl's decision?

Mutual, if he wanted to prolong his career that is what he had to do and the cardinals felt that is the way he would be most effective. Which it seems they were correct.

Jeff Zimmerman could be a guy worth taking a chance on if he is healthy.

Would Matt Mantei be a possible pickup? I don't know his health status and he's always had injury problems but at the right price he could pay off in a big way.

The Rockies were interested in him, that's a sure sign that he's affordable. Just don't count on him too much. It's not a bad idea -- maybe he's the next Dan Kolb.

When healthy he's been very good and he's still just 31. If he could be signed I'd say it would be comparable to the Tom Gordon signing two years back. Has closer experience on top of that. Wouldn't mind giving him a 1 yr deal with an option year.

Don't know his health status since he didn't pitch after May, but he went on the DL originally with Tendinitis and saw nothing of him having any sort of surgery.

In 2003 he pitched in 50 games with 29 saves (3 blown) and a 2.62 ERA. Gave up just 37 hits in 55 innings while striking out 68.

He is not a free agent.

He is not a free agent.

 Yes he is. (Unless he just signed -- ???)

He is not a free agent.

He is listed as a FA in the resource thread :huh

Me. :bang My bad, sorry guys.

He made a fortune in AZ so if he's available via trade, they will be eating a lot, or if he's a FA he will be taking a large paycut. I like the idea of getting Mantei because he will probablt be a nice quiet pickup with a lot of upside. He has had DL time in multiple seasons so the price would have to be reasonable.

I wanted Osuna last year. Bring him back. It's time to start doing something Kenny, the rest of the league is making moves around you again.

He can be had extremely cheap i feel because of such a s***ty year last year and like you said all his times on the dl. I am think 1.5-2 million per year, which would be a steal if he can pitch how he is capable of.
