A while ago this was posted and then was never talked about again, what about picking up alfonso soriano. He would provide power and from my knowledge has decent fielding ability.

I also heard that he had problems with his manager in texas so he shouldnt be that hard to trade for. Every time i watch this kid he amazes me. I dont really know how u guys would feel about this so lets hear your thoughts. :usa

Also who do u think we would have to give up to get him if we were to trade for him :fthecubs :stick

He is overated. That is my opinion of him. ;)

No good position.

too many whiffs.

too few walks.

let's look elsewhere.

Umm... Isn't he an absolutely terrible fielder?

Not the guy we need. High power, low OBP righty. We have enough of those...

No thank you.

Strikes out and swings from the heels. He is exactly what this organization is trying to get away from.

fielding wise he is a lot like valentin good range but lots of errors... i wouldnt mind him but only if konerko was traded.

Alfonso's past three years:

2002

AB: 696

OPS: .880

AVG: .300

HR: 39

2B: 51

RBI: 102

R: 128

SB: 41

2003

AB: 682

OPS: .863

AVG: .290

HR: 38

2B: 36

RBI: 91

R: 114

SB: 35

2004

AB: 608

OPS: .807

AVG: .280

HR: 28

2B: 32

RBI: 91

R: 77

SB: 18

77 runs in 608 ABs? That's terrible.

If we could get the 2002 version of Alfonso, then I'd be all for it. He'd make a great #5 hitter. 51 doubles. :o

Looks like a steady slow decline so far.

I wouldn't pass him up though, if he was available for some prospects.

I would take Soriano if the deal was right. He is a 30+ SB player. That is what Ozzie wants.

I saw a rumor on benmaller.com a while back that Texas was offering Soriano for Garland.

They would except that i think if that rumor was real. I do not see them getting a s*** load more than garland for him but that is just me. I remember seeing that for only a day or two so it wasn't a very big rumor.

How does anyone say no to a potential 50/50 guy? If it's Uribe, Harris or Soriano...I'll take Soriano.

The Sox can add grinders in RF and 3B a hell of a lot easier than they can at 2B. How many times do you run into a player of Soriano's caliber at a position that isn't normally offensively strong? Not often.

Trade Konerko and replace his firepower with Soriano, and get additional speed as well. 50 steals would more than benefit Ozzie Guillen and the White Sox. Alfonso Soriano > Paul Konerko

I agree Soranio would be counter productive. The last thing we need would be more high K swing for the fences kind of player. Plus he has publicly refused to play any other position. I wouldn't touch this guy with a 10 foot pole. No way in hell should we give up pitching for him.

Soriano is going to make about $8 million playing a position we can field someone making $300k-ish. That's how you can say no to Soriano, we don't have the payroll and he doesn't fill any of the teams real holes.
