Thats what I think will happen as well. Since it seems the Twins have their catching duo they will be out of it. The Dodgers would go after him I would think.

Burke outplayed Alomar and Davis last year. Davis is a better defensive catcher. Alomar is the better teaching catcher and Burke is the better hitting catcher AND can play multiple positions if needed.

Agreeed, in getting Matheny there is no upgrade, stick with what we have. We should have made the upgrade to catcher last year when I-rod was on the Market.

Boston is a team run by sabermaticians, meaning that they value OBP and OPS type of stats very highly...meaning they like guys who walk a lot.

Here's one thing I'll say.

 

Catcher has been an offensive void on this team for a long time. If you can make the Catcher position an offensive force, you can stand to have another position(2b) where you aren't exatcly lighting up the scoreboard
