December 9, 200421 yr I think KW signs at least 1 of Jermaine Dye and Matt Clement this weekend. I don't know why, I just do. Although, I would prefer Renteria.
December 9, 200421 yr i prefer clement... he is one of the only pitchers out there, aside from perez.... if we sign one of those two, i dont give a rats ass if joe f***in borchard is our starting RF'er.... as long as we have a starting rotation that has garland as our #5, ill be happy.... did i mention, pitching is where its at... oh yeah, pitching and pitching and pitching and pitching and pitching and pitching and pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitchingand pitching and pitching period .
December 9, 200421 yr The dreamers will dream, and the b****ers will b****... And the realists will stay real.
December 9, 200421 yr russ ortiz Damn I sure hope not. But if Kenny does not address the lack of five quality starting pitchers before spring, then he has not done his job. I am fully confident, however, he will get it done somehow.
December 9, 200421 yr KW will b**** and complain about every good player out there by passing the Sox, and then he will say he is happy standing pat. With the high prices that free-agent starters are commanding, Williams seems to be leaning toward in-house candidates such as Jason Grilli and the arbitration-eligible Scott Schoeneweis to fill the No. 5 spot in the rotation behind Freddy Garcia, Mark Buehrle, Jose Contreras and Jon Garland. ''We're going into the fifth spot in a little different position this year,'' Williams said. ''We have confidence Jason Grilli can give us more than we've gotten in that spot in the last few years.'' One of the Sox' free-agent targets, Jaret Wright, reached a three-year, $21 million deal with the New York Yankees. Wright's price tag was higher than the Sox were willing to go, and the going rate for starters has surprised Williams. ''Its very concerning, but less concerning because we've got four quality guys in our rotation,'' Williams said. ''We assured ourselves we wouldn't be in a position of absolute need where you are almost held hostage to do something you're not comfortable doing. Above is from todays SunTimes... 05 Rotation.. does not bood well

Above is from todays SunTimes... 05 Rotation.. does not bood well Would you rather him come out and state that we're going after so and so. That hasn't exactly worked with Wright or Vizquel. I doubt any of those guys will be the #5.
December 9, 200421 yr OMG this is not good. when JR was on the score a while back, he said their number one goal was a 5th starter. so somebody is FOS or something has changed.
December 9, 200421 yr OMG this is not good. when JR was on the score a while back, he said their number one goal was a 5th starter. so somebody is FOS or something has changed. With the hopes of being called an optimist by CubKilla and Anthrax.... Since when did the rotations become final on December 8th? Relax b****es.

This is the KW style of GM, Say your flyinh under the radar, then go after a mid-avg player, low ball them, then tell the press your happy with the players that you have...Repeat when necessary. And to answer your question, I would like to hear him say.. Yes we have a problem in our Rotation, and I look to see what I can do to fix that at the winter meetings and this offseason.
December 9, 200421 yr And to answer your question, I would like to hear him say.. Yes we have a problem in our Rotation, and I look to see what I can do to fix that at the winter meetings and this offseason. I believe he has said that.
December 9, 200421 yr Is there any smoke to the fire that we might land Clement? I'd love to sign him and make a deal for Vazquez.
December 9, 200421 yr No there isnt. We cant make moves until trade happeends kenny said thid on confrence call on whitesox site on mlb.com. Now if hes lying and gets it done good work
December 10, 200421 yr Is there any smoke to the fire that we might land Clement? I'd love to sign him and make a deal for Vazquez. There wasn't any for Hermanson either FWIW.
December 10, 200421 yr OMG this is not good. when JR was on the score a while back, he said their number one goal was a 5th starter. so somebody is FOS or something has changed. By 5th starter, without even having listened to it, I can almsot assure you he is talking about adding another starter in general, not a starter that would keep Garland in the #4 spot. We have only 4 starters right now...getting another starter without giving up one of them, no matter who it is, would be us getting a 5th starter...be it Randy Johnson, Tim Hudson, Matt Clement, Odalis Perez, Javy Vazquez, Jason Grilli, or Scott Schoenweis. That person will be the 5th and final starter we need. That's how I view it anyways.
December 10, 200421 yr Well, I'm hoping that we don't give up Konerko and Garland for just Vazquez. I'd need more. There's 2 guys I really want (not both of them--well, that'd be good too--but at least one), one is an FA, one through trade. Those guys are Odalis Perez and Tim Hudson. I think it will take something in the 6-7 Mil year region for Perez, which I think is feasible. Hudson would probably require a 3 team deal, as what we have doesn't match the A's wants. Perhaps this: Oakland gets: BJ Ryan Erik Bedard Willie Harris Baltimore gets: Paul Konerko Sox get: Tim Hudson Hmm...that probably wouldn't work, but it's the best I can think of right now. Perhaps I'll get a bit more creative later. Also, if we did do that, we'd need to have another MI signed already, and Uribe could play the other spot. I'm really hoping we come out with Renteria as well. I doubt we could get him AND Perez but...we shall see. Also, what day do the meetings offically start? Tomorrow?
December 10, 200421 yr That doesn't seem like a bad idea, only thing is I don't know if Bmore would give up all that for Konerko.
December 10, 200421 yr Yeah, that was what I was thinking. But, from what I've read so far, theyd have to give up Ryan, Bedard, plus a prospect. In this case, they don't have to give up a prospect. Plus, it would make their lineup even more potent.
December 10, 200421 yr Wouldn't Baltimore prefer to get Hudson themselves? I would assume they have someone equal to Willie Harris in their system.
