Non Tender Pitchers

No one who will change the Roulette Wheel, that's for damn sure.

Pitching is at such a premium that anyone worth a s*** is kept by pretty much any team.

Washburn and Fogg are the only two who I can think of off the top of my head.

I'd take Fogg as a #5. He could go 9-12 5.00, which would be about 9 more wins than we got out of #5 last year.

Did you see what the Cubs, practically an AL team, did to him last season?

Would love to get Washburn he would be a solid addition to the Sox

Washburn please. :)

It's a sad situation when our own likely non tender Shoey looks like the best of the bunch :headshake

How is washburn not better? He is not great but he is better than schoe.

The simple fact that we are talking about non tender pitchers should have every Sox fan pissed off.

Schoenweis is not a MLB starting pitcher, period. He would not have an ERA under 5 in the AL as a starting pitcher. Not only that, his atttitude is piss poor. If KW gives him like a 3 million dollar contract, it would be the worst signing of the offseason in all of baseball. I can guarantee you that if we don't resign Schoeneweis, he wouldnt get more than like a million from a team to be a reliever.

haha good point

I'd rather see Grilli or Diaz, imo. Fogg is not a starter, solid reliever, maybe. But he would get lit up at USCell, imo.

His main problem is that he thinks he is a starter and he is not.

Scho doesn't have the durability to be a starter. But the guy is and has all the makings of a stud reliever. I dont' care what anyone else tells me.

This guy at 1.5 mill a year would be well worth it in the pen and would open up some options cause I'm sure some team would be interested in Marte.

Hell, you could probably damn near get Brad Penny for Marte and someone else cause it seems like the Dodgers don't wnat to take the risk of whether he's healthy or not.

IT be a ballsy move, but a healthy Brad Penny is a top of the rotation guy.

I would not mess with the bullpen at this time. It's set up nicely. With Clement off the board, find a solid starter via signing and add a couple other pieces the same way.

5 solid starters, get a good middle infielder, upgrade at catcher while you can. After that, monitor the situation and add to it in June.

I agree with you on that Jim, but whether the Sox do that or not I don't know. Kenny is definately upset over this FA market and I will agree salaries are a little ridiculous, but at the same time he kind of got himself into this by dealing and creating payroll.

I'm sure he has something planned, but right now I think were on what he would go plan D or E.

Hell, a little ridiculous, salaries are hella ridiculous.

Washburn is better than Schoenweis.

Plus he's not coming off an injury.

He's pitched in big game (not well last season), but as a number 4 or 5 starter, he's worth the risk.

No more schoe, diaz, grili show. Washburn is the best option because he is a lefty and will complement the other starters we have.

I'm losing confidence in Washburn fast. I thought last year was a rebound year for him, but he didn't even improve at all, so if the sox signed him I would be a little worried even though another lefty to the rotation would be great. There's pretty much no chance of Odalis coming here so Washburn would be the only decent fallback option.

I am actually thinking of El Duque more now that Clements gone. You guys think hed be worth to look at? I would rather have someone who has been successfull in the past couple years than the rotating wheel in which we will fail at again. I am also scared they will rush Bmac just because Grilli,Diaz,Munoz and co didn't work out, and that isn't good at all. KW needs to do something though because if he doesn't he's going to be a fried turkey come Soxfest.
