Mulder to the Cards

Featured Replies

It isn't the last year of Mark's contract.

I know, but do you really think they want to spend the 6 million he is due this year or the 7.25 he is due next year? Will not shock me to see zito traded also.

Knowing Williams, if he intended to unload high priced talent for prospects he'd f*** it up and assemble a champsionship ballclub.

How exactly would one "know" this. Or is this coming from a horse's ass?

Yeah, and maybe now we can get Mulder to speak in Chicago and say something uncomfortable about how he'd love to pitch here....  You know, let's get even.  :)

If last year is any indication, Chicago Cub lovin' media will ask him to describe the experience of playing in "beautiful" Wrifgley Field, participating in the heated Cardinals/Cubs rivalry, and possibly ask leading questions so Tribune can print "Mulder: 'I wouldn't mind pitching here.'" :puke

:fthecubs

Mulder said in 03 that he would not want to pitch on the southside there would be to much pressure to win, esp with all his family here

If Reinsdorf offers enough money (), that attitude will change very quickly.

If Kenny traded Buehrle and Garcia, and got the same prospects and return, your telling me you wouldn't be pissed?

I know I would be...

I think there's a difference, though, in that the As already have 2 pieces to build their rotation on, Harden and Blanton. The Sox don't really have that. McCarthy still needs another year, IMO, to establish himself at that level. The As got 3 very good pitching prospects in Cruz, Haren, and Meyer. If only 3 out of those 5 pan out (and Harden's basically already there, so it's more like 2 out of 4), that's a very solid rotation.

Still I'm surprised they traded both Mulder and Hudson. I thought they could afford one high price pitcher. Maybe they (or their spreadsheets) suspect Mulder's era is a sign of something more, or maybe they figure the money starters got this year is not a one-time blip.

Wow, if the Astros reink Beltran the Cubs are in trouble....

I said it when Hudson got traded, the Chicago media should be all over Hendry about not landing, or at least be in the mix for Hudson or Mulder...

I know they have their big three with Zambrano, Wood and Prior, adding Maddux, that's a very very solid top 4... but their going to go with Rusch as 5, who is coming off a career year, Maddux is a year older, Wood has never won more than 14 games, and Prior seemed to lose his edge with some of his "mysterious elbow" problems last year.

I just know if the Cubs would have got

Mulder or Hudson

Prior

Zambrano

Wood

Maddux

they should have made a run... especially since their farm system is supposed to be deep, and that's all the Cards and Braves gave up basically...

But we will be subjected to more blather about what a great GM Hendry is and he's waiting for the right move

2007 World Series Champs

Harden/Meyer/Blanton/Haren/

Cruz/Street/Garcia

Chavez/Crosby/Swisher/Kendall/(Brown/Suzuki/Powell/Barton) -- I mentioned to WHarris in an AIM chat that they were stockpiling C prospects -- They have more C prospects than the rest of the AL combined. I wouldn't be surprised if Bean ends up with Navarro before all is said or done... In the AL you can turn C into 1B or DH very easily.

(supplement this talent with whatever they can get for Zito)

Their Future is brighter than ours, and right now I would still take them in a bet, Who has more wins in '05 White Sox/A's?

Hell, I'd take Zito, regardless of his last few years.

Last few years? He has had only 1 bad year by his standards. He had a 3.3 ERA in 2003.

I agree, I'd take Zito. It's worth a shot at a title if nothing else. If we acquire Zito and he does very well I'd have to think we are in the running for a WS. Of course, this is pure speculation, but just saying...

They do have a f***ing monster future.

At first I thought it was strange they took Suzuki and Powell this year, but it can really turn out to be soo valuable.

Who has more wins in '05 White Sox/A's?

Sox.

Zito can be had this off-season.

For us it would take a package of BMac/Sweeney/Hernandez

Was the 2007 world series champs thing meant to be in green???

It will be interesting to see what Beane does with Zito... I can see him taking the risk of him having a solid first half and then trading him at the deadline, a pitcher with his history and a solid few months could garner a ton in July/August

Zito can be had this off-season.

Hernandez... is that the catcher who hit well at A-Ball, who a lot of guys (anaylists, guys from BA, even some from here) like a lot, or consider a sleeper to be a real damn good player some day?

I find it hard to believe we couldn't of come up with a package to beat this...

Sweeney, Anderson, BMAC, Honel, Anyone they f***ing wanted in the minors...

KW GET OFF YOUR f***ING ASS... :fyou

Beane said that if he were to trade Mulder/Huddy/Zito, that he wanted them OUT of the AL. Calm down, there... Or, hit your head on your keyboard, but just don't get all pissy.

A lot of people are saying that Billy didn't want trade them in the american league.

Why? Do you know how good their system is?

I'd bet you'd be the first to complain about giving up B-Mac and Sweeney talking about how KW gave away our future for an injured pitcher with declining numbers.

How the f*** do you know if Beane wanted to trade either of these guys to an AL team?

:headshake

Why? Do you know how good their system is?

So, because they have a good system they're going to win the world series in 07?? Their system still isn't the best around and if I recall having the best system in 2000 hasn't won a world series for us yet.

That's him.... BB may want Lucy too. He's artificially inflating the demand for catching prospects by snatching all of them up. Then when the time comes, he can spin them into practically anything else.

well it's simple. BB >>> KW.

For a guy like Mark Mulder I would give them our entire prospect top 10 list and plus let them pick anyone else they wanted...

As for the AL team I just don't buy it. I mean we have them in what 2 series?
