TLAK
This is in a story from today's Sun-Times about a burned out family and how the community banded together to provide a Christmas for them. White Sox delivered caps, T-shirts Schools and businesses took up collections of everything from clothing to cash. Toys for Tots gave two bags brimming with presents. A White Sox representative delivered baseball caps and T-shirts for each of the boys and invited the family to be the team's guest next month at Sox Fest 2005. A friend donated a Christmas tree to replace the one that melted in the fire. Full Story
The Beast
I read that the kid lost a picture of Frank Thomas' that was autographed... I wish I knew information on him, I'd love to send him one of mine just to make someone's day, especially in the holiday season... Wish I knew a way to give him this... The Beast
Email the Sox? They know them and maybe they can connect you. That would be wonderful. I've made so many people happy this holiday season, why not make more people happy throughout this holiday season? Especially for someone who may not have any hope... MinnesotaSoxFan
We have to do something for them... Give them free season tickets or something like that... I hate to see christmas fires, and the family's who lose memorable/valuable possesions.

I hate to see christmas fires, and the family's who lose memorable/valuable poseesions. Hey guys and gals, let's run with this thought. A little Soxtalk brainstorming, so to speak. Is there someway we can use Soxtalk to raise some type of Sox related charity for these people. We've got the Gift Certificate link. Can we each purchase GC's and maybe send them all to one person here to be packaged and delivered to the family? Let's hear some ideas and try and build a "coalition of the willing". Someone actually likes one of my plans! I'm sure with Brooks and us, we can sure make these people happy.
AngelasDaddy0427
Honestly I think if we were going to bother raising money for them they would need the cash alot more then give certificates. I would be willing to chip in (although I don't have a credit card) so it would have to be a paypal, money order kind of thing...
A.J.
aside from reinsdorf, The sox organazation is awesome. A lot of charity work.
The Beast
Well lets do something...I'm going to go get my Thomas picture packed soon as I await the response from the White Sox. But if soxtalk could put something together as a charity to these needy families or just if we could start a fund for stories like this, that'd be great. I believe that everyone deserves to be happy somehow...
The Beast
Sent the email to the White Sox for information today, I hope that I can get hooked up with information for this kid and his family.
YASNY
My thinking with the gift certificates was that at least the one son was enough of a fan to have Thomas autograph. They are receiving other types of charity, as expressed in the article. It might be nice to let them indulge with something entertaining like attending a Sox game or two. The Beast
Jerry is the one that heads ALL charitable contributions. He IS White Sox Charities. Perhaps he could contribute to White Sox baseball charities instead of being the grinch and not allowing us to get a middle infielder/catcher. The Beast
Donating to deserving families trumps a WS in my book. Thats not what I was trying to say. I was commenting of how generous he is, but also saying how cheap he is in comparison to White Sox baseball.

I was commenting of how generous he is, but also saying how cheap he is in comparison to White Sox baseball. I didn't say that's what you were trying to say. I stated MY opinion. And, IMO, he's not cheap. They spend in line with the market, IMO. That's "in my opinion".

Rex Kickass
Give it a week, then give them a call? They probably won't give you an address, for privacy purposes... BUT they might have you send your thing to them and act as an intermediary. If they accept the offer at all.
AnthraxFan93
I like the idea of giving to the less fortune.. We someone strike up a website or something to not only get soxtalk involved but friends and family that we all have.

As much as Jerry gets complaints, and I do complain about him sometimes too. I do think he is probably a very nice guy.
