Maggs will come back first, but he is not going to have a good year.  I get the feeling that Maggs will start playing late in ST, and Frank will be back in June.  But I think both of them will struggle this year because of their injuries.

 

I can't even imagine Maggs being ready to play by ST. I'm guessing ASB at the earliest.

None of us has any clue as to how healthy Magglio is. Things do look suspicious because he cancelled the workout at the winter meetings, but any team that signs him will have the right to give him a physical before the contract becomes effective.

I saw Maggs 1 week after his surgery last year walking around downtown 2 blocks from my job without crutches, 3 weeks later he was back on the shelf, for the season. Point? Apparently what he looks like he can do and what he actually can do are not the same thing.

Ya right. I do recall numerous interviews with Scott Boras where he says I don't believe in Hometown discounts or something to that extend. I do think there is a good shot the Cubs will land him. However, the Orioles have been rather quiet of late and could make a push.

Maggs hasn't signed. I doubt Boras is going to stick his neck out too far for Maggs or any player. Boras is too good a negotiator to take part in that elaborate of a con. That would topple his gravy train too much.

 

Maggs and Boras took a huge gamble and lost. I am sorry for Maggs. I wish him all the best, especially if he winds up in the NL.

 

I am sensing a Baines-type career for Maggs after this. Limited OF play. That would seemingly eliminate any NL team from a good fit. But sense when did a good fit really come into play? A big peak at Maggs health will come when he does sign.

so i feel it will either be ordonez or delgado. I feel the talks with delgado will start heating up.

Ten time better? You cannot be serious. Patterson is not that good of a hitter. Sosa is an overpayed piece of s*** that can no longer hit for any average. Then you get to ordonez who will be on the dl a couple times at some point next season.

The funny thing there is no proof the guy can even walk.  Any team that picks him up is taking a huge risk.  What kind of shape is he going to be in.  Remember this is the guy that tired down the stretch every season as his body wore down.  Now he hasn't worked out in 8 months.  Risk is a huge understatement.

 

Possibly no risk depending on what is agreed to. In some ways this situation is less risky than someone who seemingly is healthy. Maggs would get a more detailed exam that someone who appears healthy. Here a team knows exactly what to check.

Cubs LF: Ordonez. Injury extent unknown. even if he plays next year, he won't be 100%. See Rowand, wrist. Thomas, arm.

 

Sox CF: Podsednik. One good year. One bad year. Works his tail off. Still had 70 steals. Would switch positions if its for good of the team.

Cubs CF: Patterson. "Five tool player." I hope some of those tools are craftsman tools, because I think he needs to take them back. excellent CF defense. strikes out too much. pulls the ball too much. won't switch positions for the good of the team.

 

Sox RF: Dye. Injury prone but has proven he's a good hitter. Has integrity. Above average fielder. Works his butt off.
