There is a Scout from a Troop near here that plays the bag pipes. I can't believe I'm writing this, but they are sooooo cool. When he gets it going in the dining hall it is truly an amazing instrument.

In the right hands, yes.

But I have heard some bad bagpipe playing in my time, and it is not pretty.

The first time I heard he as going to play, I cringed, expecting the worse. The range of sounds a good bag piper can produce is actually rather impressive.

From the Sun-Times Quick Hits this morning.

Thank you for your support (and vice versa): Bike Athletic celebrated the 350 millionth jockstrap rolling off the assembly line Nov. 28 by having it flown by DHL to company headquarters in Atlanta. "There was no doubt in my mind that DHL would take care of our package the way we have taken care of so many packages for the past 130 years,'' a press release quoted Bike Athletic brand manager Jenny Shulman, who was hailed as an "expert on jockstraps.'' Quick Hits doesn't even want to know how someone earns such a distinction.
