January 11, 200521 yr I remember during the D-backs love fest most people said Shilling loved the media spotlight and RJ just wanted to fade into the background. Like someone his size can. I've never really resolved in my mind what responsibility a player has to the media. Just how valid is the statement that the media represents the fans and how they treat the media is how they are treating the fans who are paying for all this? Does the player have more of a duty if the reporter always prints nice stuff about the team, or should all reporters be treated the same? Can the team dictate to the players who, when, and what to say?
