Uncertainty in CF

Who will be the White Sox center fielder in 2005? Most assume it will be Scott Podsednik, who was acquired on December 13 in a trade for Carlos Lee, with Aaron Rowand moving to left field. But manager Ozzie Guillen isn't ready to take the job away from Rowand, who is coming off a career year. "The way [Rowand] played last year, he played a great center field,'' Guillen told the Chicago Daily Herald. "I know Rowand can play anywhere, but the way he played center field last year, I want to be fair to him. I don't see why we can't keep him there, but I have to talk to my coaching staff about it.''

If Rowand remains in center then it would be Podsednik who moves to left field, the position left open by the trade of Lee. Both guys will be penciled in as starters going into spring training but we will keep fantasy owners updated on who will start the season in which position.

I think Arow, Pods, and Dye left to right is better than Pods, ARow, Dye.

I disagree 100%.

Rowand played an excellent CF last year and went above and beyond the call of duty. Although Podsednik doesn't have LF numbers, that is where he should be.

IMO, from left to right, Podsednik, Rowand, Dye.

gotta agree with addison..

Brewers fan say podsednik is highly overated in the field. So i am gonna take their word for it. I agree with with what addison said.

Why would Pods be better in CF?

It would take at least a half a year to get used to the reads and the way the ball plays at US Cellular, plus like qwerty said, the Brewer fans Podsednik was really overrated, taking bad reads and routes to the ball. Plus, you gotta protect his Pods weak arm out in LF...

i dont care, which ever centerfielder can get to the ball and catch it is my choice

Ozzie would be stupid to not play Rowand in CF...

He's great defensively, is used to the Cell, and has the better arm. Pods should be in LF.

I still want to see rowand cut his errors in half from last season. He has too many for a my liking.

Yeah, Pods has the weakest arm, he goes in left. Rowand has enough speed to track down flyballs.

Rowand get a better jump on the ball than anyone I have seen! He is not afraid of the wall.

My wife and I would sit at the games and watch the other teams fielders miss balls! We would turn to each other and say,Rowand would have got that!!!! :notworthy

I think A Row is the best choice for CF. He knows the field and the winds better than Pods. Plus not to mention the lighting too.

SPods, Arow, Dye. and that's final.

I agree with qwerty that ARow has to lower his # of errors. Many times last year he caused the Sox a run because of a bobble or a mishandle or something. He tries to do the "Pro Hop" where he scoops it up, leans back, and then guns the ball home.

Seems like every other game he either runs by a ball or can't pick it up. 99.& percent of the time it is not called an error, but it is very frustrating.

It's called a crow hop, and it is a technique that every good feilder uses. It adds a lot to your throws.

I love Oz's loyalty.

Keep ARow in cf!

ARow should stay in center. He has a better arm and knows the Chicago winds. Plus I remember Rock Raines saying it was easier on his legs playing in left that would help Pods.

Come on man, crow hop, not pro hop. :banghead
