January 26, 200521 yr http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/teams/salaries?team=chw When did The Sox sign him? I know this isn't the first time I have seen him listed with The Sox. Number 22 on the salary list
January 26, 200521 yr Author I think sadler was a top prospect with Boston a few years back, but hasn't amounted to anything. I hope he isn't our back up SS either. I would rather take my chances with............well anyone.
January 26, 200521 yr QUOTE(whitesox91403 @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 02:43 AM) I think sadler was a top prospect with Boston a few years back, but hasn't amounted to anything. I hope he isn't our back up SS either. I would rather take my chances with............well anyone. He's got a solid .202 career BA.
January 26, 200521 yr QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 02:50 AM) He's got a solid .202 career BA. Couldn't hit in the minors either. He is a piece of s*** and that is being nice.
January 26, 200521 yr Author QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 02:59 AM) Couldn't hit in the minors either. He is a piece of s*** and that is being nice. While that may be true, did The Sox sign him?
January 26, 200521 yr QUOTE(whitesox91403 @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 03:09 AM) While that may be true, did The Sox sign him? I have seen nothing whatsoever that indicates they did.
January 26, 200521 yr They signed him during last season, probably just to play in the minors. I believe he has since been released.
January 26, 200521 yr On Donnie Sadler, I recall it the same way Dick Allen does. The Sox signed him last year for a short while and he was released during the year. Seems like the site in question just hasn't been updated. On the Jerry Hairston thing, that is another listing that never seems to get taken care of, and pops up here every so often. Jerry Hairston is the manager of one of our farm teams, pretty sure it's Bristol. He may be getting some deferred payments after all these years, but I doubt it. Who knows why he's listed. The only long ago deferred payroll guy that I believe is still on the books ... Wilbur Wood. Don't know if it's true, but I remember reading he gets paid $50K per year until he turns 65, which would be in 2006.
January 26, 200521 yr .202 batting average in the minors. Almost as good as Joe Borchard's in the Mexican winter league.
January 26, 200521 yr Sadler and Hairston have been on our payroll according to ESPN for some time now. (like in the middle of 2004.) I believe Sadler retired.
January 26, 200521 yr The Sox claimed Sadler last season from the Diamondbacks to serve as Triple A fodder. He's garbage.
January 26, 200521 yr QUOTE(bulokis @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 08:52 AM) And why is Jerry Hairston Jr on our salary list? At the age of 52 and a dh.
January 26, 200521 yr This must be an old list or sothething because something is wrong. Maggs, Hairston, and Sadler are on the list. Yeah, and how the hell is Hairston born in 1952 and plays DH??????
January 27, 200521 yr Salder was signed last season to play in AAA. The guy played like one or two games and was on the roster, but got injured right away and was absolutely useless for the Knights. He was on the active roster for a while and didn't play banged up despite Charlotte's drastic need for bodies (they were horribly handcuffed late last season with injuries) and most of the time they only had like 3 or 4 guys off the bench and that includes position players and the bullpen. If I recall he was released at some point last season with the Knights, but regardless he won't be back this year.
January 27, 200521 yr QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 02:50 AM) He's got a solid .202 career BA. :headshake
