February 5, 200521 yr I heard an interview with Greg Walker that said he thought Crede would have an even worse season. Walker said he'd be suprised if Crede hit .200 with 15 hrs.

It's still not known if Crede has been able to make contact with the balls in the cage though.

Walker said he'd be suprised if Crede hit .200 with 15 hrs. You are lying. Maybe its true he'll suck but walker would be optimistic. He definitely wouldnt say he is gonna have a worse season. At soxfest when Wills was interviewing Rowand and Rowand said that during Batting practice crede's swing was much quicker than last year.

I heard a couple interviews with Walk and he said Joes swing is much better and he thinks he may have worked out the flaw in his swing.

February 5, 200521 yr Funny this should come up... I actually met up with Greg Walker last night. First let me say Walker may be the nicest pro I have ever met. He was very friendly, and actually kept our conversation going rather than making me feel like I was annoying him. The main thing we talked about was Joe Crede. Crede is one of my favorites so I was interested to hear how he was doing. Walk said Crede is coming along nicely. He said Joe's biggest problem is that he is stubborn. All his life he has been a dominating hitter, until he got to the bigs. He said Joe's natural ability was able to overcome his flaw in his swing all the way through the minors, but now it is something that has to be fixed. Walk was very complementary of Crede and his efforts. I know it's not saying much, but he assured me Joe would be a much better hitter than he was last season. Come on Crede. Proove all your doubters wrong.

February 5, 200521 yr QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 5, 2005 -> 11:26 AM) He is one of the 3 guys that are key for this season. Crede Contreas Podsednik. I'm going to add another player, his name is Health To me that is the key to the season but I agree with you those three are huge keys.
February 5, 200521 yr QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 5, 2005 -> 11:28 AM) I'm going to add another player, his name is Health To me that is the key to the season but I agree with you those three are huge keys. If it's anything like a couple years ago when everybody was getting hurt and our pitchers had mysterious arm ailments then we're absolutely f***ed this year. It's normal and should be expected that we will have a couple small injuries throughout the year but we really have to avoid the big injuries.

Health = Duque No, I do agree. Plus Duque. If he can get us 180 innings or so, and put up 10-12 wins, he is huge for our rotation...plus, if he is healthy for the playoffs(knock on wood that we get there), we do have a legit 1-2-3 combo in Buehrle-Garcia-Duque...though I'd prefer in the playoffs that Duque pitches game 2 so he could go in game 5 for us too, even if it is on 3 days rest.

February 6, 200521 yr QUOTE(qwerty @ Feb 6, 2005 -> 05:22 AM) Am i the only one that thought this was sarcasm? You're not alone . It sounded more 'tongue in cheek' than just ragging on Crede.
February 6, 200521 yr I agree. It was such blantant bulls***, that it couldn't be taken as anything else.
February 6, 200521 yr My thing about Crede is that he really, REALLY needs to work on handling the ball. Sometimes last season he went several games where it looked like he hadn't mastered the art of transferring the ball from his glove to his throwing hand and it cost us big time.

It would help if he got a new mitt. The one he uses looks like something the dog tried to eat.

February 7, 200521 yr QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Feb 5, 2005 -> 10:45 AM) I hope Joe Crede beats you with a baseball bat to show how much improved he is for 2005. And after hitting him in the head with a bat .... his head pops up to the second baseman for an easy out and the end of another Sox rally.
February 7, 200521 yr I don't have any confidence in Crede. I don't think he will have a good 2005. What disappoints me the most about him is his attitude. Sox fans always assume since he's quiet and throws his equipment after he strikes out, he really cares about improving his play. Well, if he really cared, he'd have gone to winter ball somewhere this offseason instead of installing a batting cage. Sox fans keep comparing Crede to Rowand, thinking (read: irrationally hoping) that Crede will have a breakout 2005 like ARow's 2004. Well, anyone remember that Rowand went to winter ball before the 2004 season? Then at the beginning of the 2004 season, Rowand's critics said he's hitting so well because he saw live pitching all winter long and was ahead of the pitchers he faced. That may have been true, and he continued that level of hitting over the rest of the season. Crede buys a batting cage. Where's Crede's motivation? His work ethic? His desire to lock in a contract like the one ARow just signed? No, all Cwede cares about is hitting a couple home runs in front of his hometown fans at Kauffman Stadium. Josh Fields, please hurry.
