TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- Freddy Garcia had a shaky outing, allowing three runs and five hits over four innings Friday as the Chicago White Sox beat the San Diego Padres 6-3.

Xavier Nady hit a two-run homer off Garcia, who got the win.

``The numbers don't matter for me,'' Garcia said. ``If I feel good, like I did, it will be a different story in the regular season. I'm here to be ready for the start of the season.''

Scott Podsednik hit a tiebreaking two-run single in the fourth and also had a sacrifice fly before his single off loser Justin Germano put Chicago ahead to stay.

White Sox relievers Damaso Marte, Jon Adkins, David Sanders, Josh Stewart and Matt Smith combined to pitch five shutout innings, allowing six hits.
