SF Chronicle calls Cubs fans racist

Recommended Posts

what a dope. dusty is a douche. and if anyone's comments have been racist it's dusty's. maybe he can get a job next somewhere where it's warmer year round... :headshake

That's the funny thing. Dusty said that black players like himself can handle the heat better. So why has Dusty been wearing that thing on his neck?

I honestly cannot believe something like this actually was written!!! A quote from a 'white friend' of Dustys.

What a load of s***...Racism is the reason hes been questioned? Maybe he should look at the way he has handled every situation thus far...

Did he lose control of that clubhouse last year? YES

Did they win? NO

Did he use his pitching staff properly? i.e latroy hawkins...NO

Your job as a baseball manager is NOT a hard one, be a leader, push the right buttons and win games. That cubs team had more talent than just about every other team in the playoffs last year and they choked all over themselves. Amazing how Dusty was able to displace blame to everything else, the fans, the announcers, the city, now racism?? :crying Just win...This guy makes me sick, fits perfectly on the North Side.

I'm just upset I have to listen and read about this fool....come to think of it I must be racist

But San Francisco is city known for it's all inclusiveness. They are all open minded and free love. Chicago is a blue collar town, the city of big shoulders. They don't like our beloved Dusty, so it MUST be racism. Can't you follow this obvious line of reasoning?

QUOTE(soxman352000 @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 10:45 AM)
I thought he was a god manager too, until I saw him do it first hand.

That's the thing - when he was managing in SF, all we heard here was:

"Players LOVE to play for Dusty Baker"

but when you see him (mis)manage here, you realize that the rest of that sentence is:

"...because he never holds them accountable for anything, buys into the "media is against us" conspiracy theories, and backs them even when they're dead wrong..."

"Until you are a minority, it is really difficult to realize what it is like." I remember hearing that from friends of mine in Chicago, and thinking bulls***. Well, now I am a minority and for what it's worth, it is hard to understand. It's subtle. People are comfortable with people like themselves. Cultural differences that the majority don't think twice about, a minority may be uncomftable with. For example down here it is common for people to talk in half English, half Spanish. When I knew even less Spanish then I do now, I felt like a little kid whose parents were spelling in front of his so he wouldn't know what was being said. They were keeping secrets.

You walk in a room and people check you out for an extra couple seconds. Conversations stop as you walk by. You stand out in the crowd.

I have read studies that Chicago is still one of the most segregated cities in America.

When a person sees little things day to day because they are different than the majority, it is very easy to begin thinking that bigger things are because you are a minority. And don't we really live more on perception and feelings than as analytical machines?
