Wedding Invite replies...

For those of you that have been invited to one... do you send the reply back right away or wait until the last minute...??

I send it back when I remember.....

Put us down for two

Usually I think you sed the reply back straight away so they can organize numbers etc. but my parents would do that not me.

For the only one I've ever been invited to I sent it back right away. Just common courtesy.

I did also. We got 2 invites in the past 2 weeks for the weekends immediately following ours... yet those that sent us invites to theirs have not responded... not urgent.. there's still 2 weeks to reply.. it's just irritating.

So this is what I look forward to in a few months, huh? :D

If you think that's irritating, wait until your photographer or DJ does or says something stupid on your wedding day (when you're going to be stressed out anyway).

Our photographer (a stereotypical head-lodged-up-his-ass artist) had the audacity to ask my wife if she happened to remember how many rolls of film she requested in the contract (which he forgot to bring with him) right after we walked out of the church. And the second that we walked into the reception hall, the DJ informed me that he couldn't find the song that we wanted to be introduced to (you can download the Monday Night Football theme music off the web) and told us that we had to pick another one. I was ready to punch him and needed a glass of scotch to calm down.

Oh.. my photographer is absoultely wonderful. Came to our house twice to go over things.. I have no doubt he'll be fine. And the DJ is a referral from the Reverand... I can't imagine he'd want to mess up that relationship... :lolhitting

Yep...

Then when it gets down to the wire and you have to start calling people.. I can't wait for that - although my preference is to not call and don't set them a spot and if they come direct them to the McDonalds down the street.. ;)

I always try to send it back right away so they have a proper count and can plan accordingly...well ok my wife does it that way but hell its my lie and I can tell it anyway I want to lol

DJ?

pfffft

come on, we all know wedding singers are where its at.

I got one for ya.

I gave my best man ONE responsibility: 'bring this CD to the reception with you. The DJ doesn't own this song and our 1st dance is on it'.

Do you even need to guess what happened?

To make it worse my best man and one of my groomsmen felt bad so they decided to go out and try to find the CD just as the cocktail hour is set to begin. 'We'll be back in 30 mins', they said. I said 'fine, but if you can't find it, we'll just choose another song, but be back in 30 mins. DO NOT BE LATE'.

Well, 30 mins go by, not back yet, 'well let's call them', both of their cell phones are at the table next to us, there was no way to reach them.

45 mins. go by, no trace.

An hour and 15 mins. later they show up with it. By then everything was behind and out of order and almost chaotic, not to mention my wife is furious and about to leave her own wedding and just say "f*** this'.

We rallied and had a great time and can even laugh about it now, but I thought I was gonna lose it.

ALL weddings have their own setbacks. It wouldn't be a wedding without it.

The DJ for us is a guy I used to work with and my brother still plays cards with so I told my brother I get to kick his ass if the DJ sucks.

As for the photographer, we booked the one that Brian's cousin used at her wedding - unlimited rolls fo film and an all day photographer! :headbang

tip: I'd ask to see the DJ's play list. Tell him exactly what you want and don't want to hear. Those guys get good money to just play records, so you own him for those few hours. If he objects, get someone else.

Definitely.. I just finished mine last night and emailed it to him this morning.

Oh man! Quick story. At my sister-in-law's wedding we requested some music and the DJ says, "That's like from the 90's." with this weird look. I couldn't believe it. I'm thinking, " Who the hell is paying you? Most people here are 30+ and you're playing rap and R&B!" Absolutely blew!

I already talked to him and he said he would prefer a list so he can get whatever music he doesn't already have that we want to hear.

It's a good tip though! :headbang

Heh, DJ story.

Christmas party at work, people can make requests.

Someone requests "Crunk Juice" by Little John.

The DJ plays the full F-bomb version at high volume.

THAT lasted about 15 seconds, when the CEO of the management company stared down the DJ.

The one thing that my wedding taught me is that you can't rely on other people to do things the way you want them done. If you want something done correctly, you need to do it yourself.

Our incompetent photographer and DJ, however, did inadvertently give me incentive to make my marriage last, as there's absolutely no way that I'll go through this crap again.

So true! We had a bad DJ, but the photographer was cool! She's my aunt. My Dad's sister. I've never met my Dad. My Mom still talks to his sister. She gave us a sweet discount. I think guilt came into play a little bit. :) She goes to our church too.
