We are all about speed, yet we continue to let Konerko, Dye, Everett, and Crede start?

Pierz is mighty fast too.

A little more info on Frank's minor league rehab...

Frank Thomas, recovering from offseason surgery on his left ankle, will begin playing for Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday.

Once the rehab assignment begins, he'll be able to spend 20 days in the minors. Whether he's with Charlotte for the max should depend on his performance. If Thomas experiences a setback, the White Sox can remove him from the rehab assignment and then restart the 20-day period later on.

So Frank could be back in 20 days or less starting Tuesday, unless he suffers a setback. Let's hope he's back healthy in 10 days. :pray

Frank said he wants about 40 ABs which could be 10-15 games.

They aren't 275 lbs with a bad ankle.

They are slow, yes, but they are healthy?

Hopefully he gets 4 bats a game and it's only 10 games.

Do you think they are gonna let him come back when he is not 100% healthy?

And they also have to play a position. Frank doesn't.

He reiterated Sunday that playing first base is not on the agenda for him during the 2005 campaign, as he won't be 100 percent healthy until the end of the season. It's still a light at the end of a long tunnel, although Thomas knows there's a long way to go.

Frank says he will not take any fielding at all during his minor league rehab and will not do any fielding at all any time this year.  Sounds like he's in a lot more pain than he has been letting on if that's the case.

I don't think the pain has anything to do with Frank playing 1b. If he plays the IF, he increases his chances of re-injuring his foot. Let the big man hit, and run the bases. If he can handle that, he'll be fine. The sox don't need him at 1B. They just need him to DH.

Godd luck Frank!!!!

P.S. Just hit homers so u dont have to run the bases full speed.

Must get a cheaper flight than to go on Monday..

Actually, I'm afraid he'll take that exact approach. If he does, he'll he be a .240 hitter.

I share your fear. I'm hoping for the Frank that debuted with the White Sox. He owned right center like his name was Julio Franco. I'm not sure what my schedule is for the rest of this week, but I plan on seeing the Knights as much as I can for the 4 game set with Ottawa. I believe McCarthy is scheduled to start against Frank's old buddy - James (trudging off the field like a solemn undertaker) Baldwin on Friday. I don't know if the opportunity will present itself, but I plan on asking Frank where he stands on pain-o-meter (1 to 10). Of course I will report on any news.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 15, 2005 -> 06:38 PM)
Wow, first of all there is no way we will risk another injury to Frank by having him play 1st base.  It just isn't worth it.  Konerko does not have the range to play 3rd base anymore.  And Crede at shortstop, the outfield, and 2nd base?  Are you trying to make us the worst defensive team in baseball?  Wow, those are some of the worst and most ridiculous ideas that I have ever heard.

It is what he has in his videogame, so it must be possible. :headshake

I just hope he hasn't lost his eye with all the time away. The homers will be nice, but if he can walk a lot, and end up consistently being on base two times a game, that'll be as huge a lift to our offense as the power.

Maybe when he comes back, Dye can take his roster spot in Charlotte.

I know, wishful thinking...

Yeah, he's tried that before with painful results.
