J.D. Learning from Pods?

Featured Replies

Is it just me, or does it seem that Jermaine is stealing more bags lately?

You mean our future first baseman?

Well that one was just with the full count. Although I'm assuming he stole something today as well (just got the game on around the 5th inning).

However, Jermaine has decent speed and when Victor is behind the plate him, Rowand, Guchi, and Pods should all be able to run quite a bit.

He has lost a couple steps ever since his injury. He use to be above average speed wise... now he is lucky to be average

His lack of speed has been one of his problems in the field but he has shown he is a pretty good base runner overall.

The nice thing is he has very long strides, kind of Vladdy like in a sense. Vladdy isn't exactly fast, but his long ass legs lead him to getting around the bases so stinking quick.

Just a random rant, but overall I agree with your assesment and ya, he's really a good baserunner (especially when it comes to going 1st and 3rd).

I dont think pods is teaching him. I think it just nobody expects him to steal and when he does there surprised and cant do anything about it.

He not only steals but he has been good while doing it... he has to have almost double digits at least.

9 i think

I know we all love Pods, but does he strike anyone else as just an average baserunner? Maybe he just has too much confidence in his speed, but he's been gunned down at home mulitiple times on a groundouts.

Contact play?

overconfidence in his speed has to be it.

I dont find him to be an idiot running the bases, just overconfident.. which I guess can be defined as acting like an idiot.

It's the contact play heads, it's not his fault.

Like I said, it's just something that kind of stuck out at me, contact or not. I know it's nitpicking.
