August 2, 200520 yr Seattle cut Sele (6-12, 5.66 ERA) yesterday....Looks he may be just about done, but would he be worth a look (at the expense of Atkins) as a long man out of the bullpen ? He does have playoff experience, but would he better than Atkins, who struggled mightily as a starter in the minors?
August 2, 200520 yr I'd rather bet on Adkins, who, by the way, probably won't be near the playoff roster.
August 2, 200520 yr He throws strikes and has playoff experience. If the Sox brass can determine whether his arm has anything left, I wouldn't mind seeing him in the bullpen.
August 2, 200520 yr QUOTE(Wong & Owens @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 01:22 PM) He throws strikes and has playoff experience. If the Sox brass can determine whether his arm has anything left, I wouldn't mind seeing him in the bullpen. The Twins tried signing a Seattle cast off. How'd that work out?
August 2, 200520 yr Author QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 01:23 PM) The Twins tried signing a Seattle cast off. How'd that work out? So Sele is washed up because Boone is ? Sele may be washed up, but not for that reason.
August 2, 200520 yr Author QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 12:49 PM) I'd rather bet on Adkins, who, by the way, probably won't be near the playoff roster. Adkins probably won't be on the playoff roster unless he has an ERA below 3 with some significant innings....then they'd probably find a way to get him on, but chances of him pitching this good is about 2%
August 2, 200520 yr Sele is washed up because he's old and bad. Stay far away from Aaron Sele. Adkins >>>>> Sele.
August 3, 200520 yr QUOTE(spiderman @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 05:44 PM) Seattle cut Sele (6-12, 5.66 ERA) yesterday....Looks he may be just about done, but would he be worth a look (at the expense of Atkins) as a long man out of the bullpen ? August 3, 200520 yr QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 03:09 PM) Keep who? it is a saying for no thanks. Sele is a Has Been.
August 3, 200520 yr dont make moves just to make them. they have to help the team and this one doesn't. next.
August 3, 200520 yr I was waiting for someone to ask this question. Stay away. Far, far away. He'll fit in nicely with the: Devil Rays, Pirates, Reds, Orioles, Royals, etc.
August 3, 200520 yr im not too fascinated with sele, hed be a good guy to use in bullpen and spot start but hes old and is losing his talent
August 3, 200520 yr QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 01:07 PM) I was waiting for someone to ask this question. Stay away. Far, far away. He'll fit in nicely with the: Devil Rays, Pirates, Reds, Orioles, Royals, etc. or maybe the Newark Bears
August 4, 200520 yr Author QUOTE(soxfan3530 @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 11:57 PM) dont make moves just to make them. they have to help the team and this one doesn't. next. You're probably right, and I have to agree that Sele is most likely washed up, but I think it was at least worth the look.
