Chicago Blackhawks Offseason Bonanza Thread

I'll tell you, everything has died down on who gets what - because no one knows how the playing field is going to shape up yet.  Someone needs to get some balls and make a big breakthrough signing so the pieces can start coming together.

Kind of sounds like the recently passed trade deadline in MLB.

This on Aucoin;

The Penguins may be interested in signing former Islander defenseman Adrian Aucoin to a deal.

There was talk between the club and Aucoin's agent Larry Kelly yesterday. Aucoin turned down a four-year $13.5 million offer to return to the Islanders and is likely looking for more than $3.38 million per season. Aug. 2 - 7:07 am et

Adam Foote got a 3 year $13.5M deal from Columbus. But have a look at this;

The Devils have allegedly made Scott Niedermayer a contract offer that will pay the defenseman $6.8 million per season.

That may not be enough as Niedermayer is said to have received offers from Chicago, Vancouver, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Detroit yesterday. Much will depend on whether Niedermayer really wants to stay in Jersey and if he will consider giving his former club a slight discount to do so. Aug. 2 - 6:43 am et

I really think Anton should get a spot. I love that kids shot.

Niedermayer.....DEAD!!! I wouldn't mind having Scott on the Hawks...he would replace Berard and is more defensive than him as well. Anton Babcuk should get another shot to see what he can do. I know Yawney was less than impressed with him last season though...

Not as much as other defenseman on the market like Niedermeyer, Pronger etc. The Hawks have targeted Aucoin, and I think they'll get him.

Damn I'm good; :D

According to TSN, Adrian Aucoin has signed with the Chicago Black Hawks.

The deal is said to be 4 years, worth $16 million. The Hawks now have their power play specialist and number one defenseman. Aug. 2 - 9:59 am et

Really good to see. Aucoin>>>>Berard.

Absolutely, and only for what about an extra $1.5 million. If the Hawks want to sign another D-man though, they betta act fast, the Flyers have signed Hatcher, Rathje and Therrien. Things are starting to heat up.

There's our offensive defenseman, and the guy i wanted.

Time to work on shoring up this offense.

How much cap room do the Hawks have left?

Mike Modano.

Just kidding.

Now onto the business of a top-line forward -- preferably center.

Is Joe Thorton looking for a trade? I thought I'd heard that. He'd look great on a line with Ruutu...

Nice pickup by Hawks

Thorton is my favorite player in the league. Him and Nash, if they got him, oh man, I think the Hawk will have won me back.

Quite frankly I'm in a debate between the Hawks and the Wings. I've just gotten into hockey (really started to last year) and am tied to the two teams (family and friends are fans of each) and well they have taken to me to some games where I saw both teams.

The thing that kills me about the Hawks is Wirtz, but when I was real young I remember rooting for Eddie the Eagle back when he was the man (JR, Amonte, Chelios, Sutter, etc).

Jason if you end up being an Iowa fan AND a Wings fan...

Anyway, Hawks still have a ton of cap room left. I can't remember the exact number they are at though.

I'm looking for a huge impact forward right now, i can't wait to see who Tallon can get.

I can't freaking wait for football season to start. Iowa beating up on Ball State in early September....:headbang :cheers

Don't you dare become a Red Wings fan. f*** Detroit.

:puke :puke :puke

Hop on the 'Hawks bandwagon. Seabrook/Barker/Byfuglian are going to anchor the blueline for years to come, with other youngsters such as Wisniewski (sp?) and Keith ( :headbang ) and Babchuk filling the remaining spots.

I'm honestly extremely excited at the prospects the Hawks currently have in their system. The core is there -- Ruutu, Bell, Calder, and (maybe) Arny seem to be the forwards they want to build around, and I can't wait to see guys like Dave Bolland and Jack Skille slowly make their way to the big club.

Mike "Oh My Neck" Modano? One in the same?

Free-agent center Mike Modano has not made a decision on where he might play this season and still would like to see if the Stars are interested in keeping him.

" I have not agreed to terms with anybody yet," Modano said at 11 a.m. "We're still in the process of talking this out."

A source close to the negotiations said Modano has received solid offers from Boston, Chicago and Atlanta, all in the range of four years and $20 million. Boston may have the inside track on Modano and could use his signing as leverage in their dealings with captain Joe Thornton, who could become an unrestricted free agent next summer.

Now tell me, people, that the Hawks ain't f***ing serious. Say what you will, but Modano is no slouch.

Hell, I would love to have him for that price.

Kapko, you got a link for that little snippet you posted?

Palffy won't be coming to the Hawks:

Zigmund Palffy, three-time 40 goal scorer suggests that he is on his way out of Los Angeles, reported Slovakian Newspaper, SME. He was quoted as saying "Los Angeles is showing great interest, but I don't exclude that in the end I will end up in Toronto, Detroit, or Florida."

Bruins traded a 4th round pick to Edmonton for Winger Brad Isbister FWIW...

So dollar bill wirtz is opening up the purse?

Freakin sweet.

Dallas Morning News is the link for Modano.

My point is, there are SERIOUS offers being tendered to some pretty damn big names by the Hawks.

I told you.

Now, they just need to land one. Unfortunately, the reputation preceeds $Bill.
