August 13, 200520 yr 3-4 months. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2132968 ST. LOUIS -- Chicago Bears quarterback Rex Grossman will be out three to four months after breaking his left ankle in a preseason game Friday night, the team told ESPN. Rex Grossman played only three games last season due to injury. Grossman injured his left ankle early in the second quarter against the St. Louis Rams and was carted off the field. The Bears said the injury will sideline Grossman "indefinitely." Grossman, who played in only three games last season before being sidelined by a right knee injury, was hurt with 11:08 to go in the half as he threw a pass. After being flushed out of the pocket and being spun around by Trev Faulk, he got back to his feet. While limping, Grossman signaled for a trainer. He then sat down and grabbed his left knee. He slammed his helmet on the cart before he left the game. The Bears used four quarterbacks last year and have used at least three in six of seven seasons. Grossman was 6-for-11 for 52 yards before leaving the scoreless game. He was replaced by Chad Hutchinson. Edited August 13, 200520 yr by DukeNukeEm

August 13, 200520 yr QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 08:18 PM) So does Kurt Kitner make the team now? Absolutely. Ron's boy going in...now, he has a roster spot.
August 13, 200520 yr Does this mean the end of Grossman in Chicago or does anyone think he will get another shot next year ??
August 13, 200520 yr QUOTE(Confederate_48 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 09:20 PM) Does this mean the end of Grossman in Chicago or does anyone think he will get another shot next year ?? Not a chance. The Bears will bring in another QB next year.
August 13, 200520 yr All I ask is that you don't f*** up Orton. If this kid has a legitimate shot of being an NFL quarterback--which, I think he does--groom him for a year and let's do this the right way. Barring any trade, you start Hutchinson and Kitner for the year and let's groom the youngster the right way. Grossman, you're plane is boarding. I know it's a bit early to comment on something like this, but if I'm the Bears, I'm over the Grossman expierence.
August 13, 200520 yr QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 09:21 PM) Not a chance. The Bears will bring in another QB next year. they won't because Orton will win ROY.
August 13, 200520 yr 2 years in a row the Bears don't have a quality backup plan...that is completely sad for an NFL team.
August 13, 200520 yr Interesting... Mike Brown: "This field sucks. It's coming up all over the place. I didn't see the injury, but I bet his foot got stuck in the turf. THe field turf is supposed to be even, but it's coming up at spots." f***ing field turf.
August 13, 200520 yr QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 09:22 PM) they won't because Orton will win ROY. Orton isn't even gonna play
August 13, 200520 yr QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 09:22 PM) 2 years in a row the Bears don't have a quality backup plan...that is completely sad for an NFL team. Kyle Orton will be a stud. This guy would've been the first pick in the draft had he not gotten hurt earlier last year.
August 13, 200520 yr QUOTE(GBlum27 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 09:23 PM) Orton isn't even gonna play he better f***ing play. He is much better than Hutchinson will ever be.
August 13, 200520 yr QUOTE(GBlum27 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 08:23 PM) Orton isn't even gonna play How do you know this? What has the Bears organization shown you to let you know Orton won't play this season. That is, what has the Bears--the team with the most starting QBs for the past five seasons--shown you to make you think they won't start a fourth round rookie?
August 13, 200520 yr QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 08:21 PM) Not a chance. The Bears will bring in another QB next year. Leinart
August 13, 200520 yr Orton very well may be a stud but he is way too raw right now to just step in and be expected to come up huge in the NFL. Grossman was also hyped like crazy and has yet been able to stay healthy long enough to ever prove it.
August 13, 200520 yr QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 09:25 PM) How do you know this? What has the Bears organization shown you to let you know Orton won't play this season. That is, what has the Bears--the team with the most starting QBs for the past five seasons--shown you to make you think they won't start a fourth round rookie? They trust Hutchinson a helluva lot. JMO but I would be shocked if Orton played a significant amount of time.
August 13, 200520 yr Author 3-4 Months: It's Official. A lotta speculation that Orton will be opening day dude.

August 13, 200520 yr QUOTE(CubsSuck1 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 09:25 PM) Leinart well they probably won't have the 1st pick.
