Burnett's last seven starts: 7-0, 0.75 era.

Remember when some Sox fans were saying he wasn't that much better than Contreras?

I have also taken notice :banghead :crying :bang :fight :puke :stick :chair :( :( :fyou

He wouldn't have put up 7-0 0.75 here, and this is for sure.

It's still fun to pretend though. :)

Detroit will give him a 4 year $50M deal come the off-season.

Any chance we sign him you think?

Not a chance in hell.

Why's that? Lack of money? Lack of open position? Lack of interest on his part?

We won't have a lot of money to spend, he's going to get a ton this offseason, and the White Sox aren't one of the teams he's interested in.

Disagree 100%.

Wow, please explain how you feel that way. Did you not read the Tribune article the other day saying how we've spent almost all of our money on contracts for next year?

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 10:10 PM)
The fact of near sellouts the rest of the way, *hopful* playoff sellouts, and the fact that Reinsdorf was quoted as saying Williams had no price range on players at the deadline.

Also, a sure fact Frank is off the books, and 50/50 Paul is gone.

Well, in order to bring back a lot of our core guys like Garland and AJP, we're going to have to give out some raises. I also don't think we're going to see a huge raise in payroll like others think. The two positions where we really needs guys are on the corners.

Agree with Fathom here, with this team as-is next year, JR would have to raise the payroll to more than he'd probably want to, there's 0 chance of getting Griffey in my mind (a. the money issue, and there's no chance of cinci eating money, b. his owner won't trade him) or this signing happening, unless KW would be able to get rid of a lot players

If Burnett was here... he'd be losing 1-0, 2-1, 3-1, like the other SPs have been doing.

We need a cleanup guy worse than a SP. No one was available for a decent price at the non-waiver trade deadline.

They said that based on two big assumptions, #1 that payroll stays flat to moderately increased, which I have demonstrated a history that saids exactly the opposite, and #2, you are assuming everyone comes back, and I think we all know that isn't going to happen. Not with Thomas hurt, Konerko the biggest 1B on the market, and such.

See, now this is where I just want to copy the angry smilie and then hold down the ctrl-v to paste it to fill the screen. KW clearly said he would have the money to make the big move and go for it in July. Assuming Blum isn't KW's idea of a big move, that money was never used. Sure, raises will be given out in 2006, but that had to be part of the plan anyway. In any case, I am still waiting for my major acquisition.
