Game Thread 8/24, Twinkies Game 2

Joe's not swinging like a pussy this inning. I'd rather see him swing hard and K than to just throw the bat out and pop up weakly to 1b.

Crede is just a bad offensive player.

Remember, it's a hell of a lot easier to trade a player with one year left on his contract.  I'll say this:  in a way, I'm happy that Gload isn't putting up a season this year like he did last year.  I would never want the Sox to even consider him for the starting 1b position to start the season.

He should, however, be on the major league roster. No reason that a bat like his is in AAA...

Uribe hits a Ford like double just short of Ford.

He should be a back-up 1b. The funny thing is that's been one of our biggest holes all season.

I was shocked he didn't make that catch.

I am still bewildered as to why Timo is here...and leading off?!?! WTF is wrong with that picture?? He is the worst leadoff hitter in baseball....by a mile.

And yes, I know I'm beating a dead horse. :chair

Tonight looks much more promising than the 6 run inning vs Randy Johnson!!!

Timo just barely survived a fathom rant there!

Agreed

Iguchi is so much better at the plate when he just tries to drive the ball, instead of trying to move up runners. I could care less if he doesn't try to get the runner over the rest of the year. All that results in is worse hitting counts and potential Ks.

That's been my point when I thought he should get out of the 2 hole, maybe even leadoff and have Pods bat second.

Now all the pessimists on this board talk in 1st person view now.

all those balls lined right at people are finally falling in...

Yep, especially when our 3-4 hitters have struggled to get runners in for a few months with less than 2 outs and someone on 3rd base.

Is it just me, or is anybody else sick of hearing Hawk talk about last night's game?

I hate the twinkies, but man they step up on defense. Great farm system.

You would have had me agreeing with you...especially if you didn't add those last 4 words of the sentence. We haven't had any stretches tonight, have we?

Very true.

wow folks, this is are first solid ball game (so far at least) in like, the last 2 weeks. we are getting hit after hit after hit, and not scoring just by the long ball. granted these pitchers arent terrific, but we werent scoring at all against ANYBODY. this looks very good, this could be the beginnings of a nice winning streak, especially with jon going tomorrow.

Ugh, not the person to give up a hit to. Hold them to one run, and call it a good inning MB.

I'm really not trying to be negative, but Rowand just looks LOST

I think he may be pressing because of the Griffey rumors, but I'll take Griffey over him anyways

Great job getting the ball back in.
