September 27, 200520 yr I was a little surprised that Buehrle didn’t just give the standard “no-comment” type of response when asked today on a call-in show on ESPN radio about Carl Everett’s public complaints about being demoted from 3rd to 6th in the lineup. He basically said he was disappointed that Carl complained when you’ve got guys like Borchard and others on the bench who’d love an opportunity to get a chance to contribute. But Carl’s going to be Carl, and he’s going to go off and "say some goofy thing." However, Buehrle was smart enough not to take the bait when he was asked who’d he’d put in the three hole if he were making up the lineup. That’s when he decided to say that the offense wasn’t his business.

September 27, 200520 yr I hope Everett has fun next year playing with his one year, one million dollar contract. We'll see how much complaining he does when he's the back-up DH on the Yankees.
September 27, 200520 yr QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 05:00 PM) Man...good work Mark. Impressed I am. Well handled. Yeah, no really. The last thing we need on this team is another distraction to keep our minds on anything else but winning the game
September 27, 200520 yr Author that seems slightyly ironic coming from MB... Carl says some goofy things huh? :rolly <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Too true. In the ironic and/or goofy department: When Mark was given the opportunity to back off on some of his own earlier newsworthy remarks about Maddux doctoring the ball and the Rangers stealing his signs (“do you regret any of the things you said about… blah, blah blah…”), he didn’t back down. First, he repeated like he had before that he hadn’t named Maddux specifically (oh, please) and then said that other people (unnamed, of course) had come up to him later claiming the same things. :rolly Glad to see the guys have their priorities straight right now. September 27, 200520 yr QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 10:07 PM) Im suprised anyone that is not Ozzie commented. You father already commented once before on the Everett issue.
September 27, 200520 yr QUOTE(HeGone! @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 05:05 PM) Yeah, no really. The last thing we need on this team is another distraction to keep our minds on anything else but winning the game 30,000 screaming fans = no effect but comments made days earlier cause them to lose focus?? 2-2 count, I wonder if he's going to throw a fast, hmmm, Carl's unhappy, Kong has no contract, Ozzie may quit, STRIKE 3 Damn I should have paid attention to that pitch. This stuff isn't the reason for the loses. The distraction defense is b.s.

That’s when he decided to say that the offense wasn’t his business. Carl needs to stop cheating fastballs. He's doing the same thing he was early in the season when he was in a horrid funk. If you give him an offspeed pitch down and away you'll get three swings and misses and Everett will walk to the bench. Throw him a fastball in and he may just get lucky and whallop it. He's f***ing terrible as of now.
