Advantage/disadvantage?

Having a couple days off won't hurt this team a bit.

Definite advantage. Our pitchers will be nice and fresh, especially our bullpen, and we can setup our rotation the way we want for the series, while our hitters get a couple of rest days, which we didn't have many of in September, while the Yanks and Angels are using up their pitchers.

I'm hoping that the Angels and Yankees go 5 games and tire each other out. It would be nice if both teams burn out their bullpens.

Two days of rest would have been nice. Three, and they are running the risk of losing their fine honed edge. Let's hope MLB doesn't punish the Sox for sweeping by letting that rainout cause them to push game 1 to Wednesday.

Whoever wins that series should have to deal with that issue. Not the Sox.

Also, I don't think anyone's coming out of that series in a groove.

It hasn't been one-sided, and they had a rainout yesterday, which would help to kill any momentum.

If it goes to Game 5, that means another cross-country flight for both teams and then a turnaround flight for the winner to get to Chicago.

No advantage IMO to them still playing now.

After playing 165 games, plus 40ish spring training games, the rest is huge, especially when coupled with the frequent flier miles that Anaheim/New York will be racking up by the time they get here. You add that to the nagging injuries that our players have (Pods groin, Crede/Hermanson back, etc) and it will be a big help IMO. The only guy I am really worried about getting too much rest is Garland who will have not pitched for almost 3 weeks by the time that he goes again.

it's not even a question, it's a huge advantage.

We can even break it down into real simple terms.

Would you rather make 2 cross country flights in 2 days OR

practice, relax, get ready.

There's a few dissadvantages I can think of, ie Garland resting long etc...

however overall I think it's HUGE... espeically with NY/LAA going 5

The more rest we can get for Pods, the better. That leg is still not 100% and we'll need him to run.

It's not the layoff, but the layoff combined with possibly a chilly night that kinda concerns me. Trying to hit when it's cold is tough enough. Combine it with a few day's rest and it might be even tougher.

As ESPN calls them, the road-weary Angels.

Advantage, Good Guys!

Jon pitched a simulated game on Sunday. While it's not the same.. it's work.
