October 19, 200520 yr A-row has been on with MJH for about 45 min now, talking about how they came up with Journey as their theme song, who the best hitting pitcher is, his love of the bears, and his friendship with the players. Absolutley great guy.
October 19, 200520 yr My favorite baseball player, I've only heard and seen good things out of him since he joined the Organization. I got a jersey of his last year, I'm proud to wear that sucker.

October 20, 200520 yr QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Oct 19, 2005 -> 04:57 PM) The Journey stuff was great That story on how the Journey song originated within the Stooges was very funny. I heard players want the vocalist from Journey to sing Dont Stop Believin' on Game 1.

It sounds like Crede, A-row and AJ are really good buddies, and he is a solild chicago guy. Its hard to say goodbye to great team players like A-row. What a class act.

October 20, 200520 yr Can somebody quickly explain why they chose "Don't Stop..."? I don't hate the song, but it seems a bit...ummmm..."dated" for a bunch of guys as young as they are, especially since Rowand says his fave band is Linkin Park. For the record...I take Journey over Linkin...and I am not a Journey fan at all.
October 20, 200520 yr Author QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 20, 2005 -> 07:52 AM) Can somebody quickly explain why they chose "Don't Stop..."? For the record...I take Journey over Linkin...and I am not a Journey fan at all. The story is like this: Rowand, Aj, and Crede were in the lounge bar in Baltimore watching a bad singer on stage. They were hanging out drinking a few beers and the lounge bad was just playing awful songs. So crede puts down his beer and yells "play some f***ing Journey!" Apparently they did, and it was histarical. So during the next few weeks ever so often one of the three stooges would just yell out, play some f***ing journey in the middle of a game. So they get back to the Cell during the playoffs, and during game 2 vs the Red Sox, we are down by a couple of runs, and they start playing journey over the loud speakers. The guys crack up and they go on to win the game, adopting it as their rally cry. Edited October 20, 200520 yr by RockRaines
October 20, 200520 yr Just remember the Family Guy quote about Don't Stop Believin': "Oh, God. I love this song. And I love it when amateurs sing the lyrics. But I hate baseball cards." I love that song!

It has nothing to do with them standing around handing out a story such as "when things were tough for me and my best friend back when we were kids..." or any stupid ass movie cliched reason. It comes down to "we were getting ripped in a bar and Joe stood up and yelled at the bar band..."!!! LOL!!! Damn, these guys are the greatest team I have ever seen for soooo many reasons!
October 20, 200520 yr When I first heard that they were using that song, I thought to myself, "thats a really dopey song...they better have a good drinking story behind it". After hearing Rowand's explanation, I'm totally down with it. Cool story. Now, if they can all do some synchronized fist-pumping in the dougout when they play the song, I'll be the happiest guy in the world.
October 20, 200520 yr QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 20, 2005 -> 10:24 AM) But that picture is from the "Seperate Ways" video... That's scary that you knew that. But I did as well. Separate Ways came out a few years after Don't Stop Believing. Maybe AJ, Crede or Rowand first got wood when slow dancing with a girl in junior high to Open Arms, which is on the same album.

Maybe AJ, Crede or Rowand first got wood when slow dancing with a girl in junior high to Open Arms, which is on the same album. Not really scary. I'm 35, meaning I was 16 or so when that video came out. It was on MTV and Friday Night Videos all the time back then, and a video like that STICKS in your memory. It's easily the worst video ever made.
October 20, 200520 yr QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 20, 2005 -> 10:24 AM) But that picture is from the "Seperate Ways" video... You won't be needing this anymore... [grabs Kid's Guy Card, shreads it, burns it.]

October 20, 200520 yr I knew that it was from "Separate Ways" as well. That's a video that they retired on MTV with a sledgehammer. Vanilla Ice smashed his own video with a hatchet on that show. Dennis Leary called Steve Perry "Dead from the neck up" ie. homely as sin.
