October 26, 200520 yr I'm glad MB closed it out...but one of the things I thought about tonight was the fact that Marte was out there...it was his game...and he wasn't looking over his shoulder. He knew he wasn't getting the quick hook...and I really think that made a big difference for him. He looked like the Marte of old who most of us came to love a while back. I tell ya what...HAT'S OFF TO MARTE TONIGHT!!!! I did a shot for ya Marte!!!! ONE MORE!!!!!!
October 26, 200520 yr I was very, very impressed by Damaso. After all the s*** I've talked about him this year, I'm very happy to see him pitch like that. Great job Dam.
October 26, 200520 yr He still walked two in an inning and and two thirds... nothing to write home about. Although i do like the fact that he was putting the hitters away with strike outs. Edited October 26, 200520 yr by qwerty
October 26, 200520 yr He was hitting that low and inside pitch for the strike-out, which is key for him. Even when he walks guys, if he hits that he'll do well. I'm still shakey on him.
October 26, 200520 yr 43 is a very special number to many of us, myself included. Sometimes, I start thinking that Damaso brings shame to that number, that perhaps I don't approve of him selecting that number and keeping it. Not tonight. Tonight, Marte, you have proven yourself worthy to hold the Milkman's number. And no pitcher with a win in this World Series deserves it more than you.
October 26, 200520 yr I liked that Buehrle bailed out Juan Uribe. I didn't wnat any Buckner/Alex Gonzalez clips or whatever playing tomorrow ad nauseum
October 26, 200520 yr yeah, he may have walked a few, but they really couldn't touch him when he got his pitches over.
October 26, 200520 yr He was great the 2nd inning.... but the first he was helped out a lot by the astros hitters who were swinging at balls... still nice job Marte!
October 26, 200520 yr I agree. Damaso pitched well. I think Ozzie was smart to save him until the Sox were on the road. No booing to distract him... Well done, Damaso.
October 26, 200520 yr I am so happy for Damaso. He was my next Mariano with the stuff he had & his competitive attitude before Jerry Manuel screwed with his mind. He had virtually lost all his confidence & it is so nice that he wins a WS game. I am not the least surprised that both Jose Contreras & Damaso Marte have won WS games. I never jumped on either of these guys. It makes me feel so proud of the both of em. Even though DM walked some guys and probably wouldve been punished if it were an AL team. Still this is awesome that he put a smile on all of our faces. I doubt very much that he will be back in a whitesox uni next year. I tell you what thou I am going to root for him assuming he goes somewhere else.

Jerry manuel screwed with marte in no way, shape, or form. That is one of the biggest fallacies that i constantly read on soxtalk. If someone has any examples of how he was ''screwed'' or ''mistreated'' i would really like to hear them.
October 26, 200520 yr He actually pitched well and should have had 2 scoreless innings and ended the game. Uribe kind of screwed his outing over a bit though. Either way, I'm sure Marte is proud of himself and he should be. He helped us win. I think after that first scoreless inning he gained a ton of confidence.

October 26, 200520 yr He looked like the old Marte for the most part. I'm very happy for him. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I wanted to see him succeed at some point after seeing him jumping for joy in the bullpen after Konerko's grand slam. He was acting like a kid and a fan just like all of us.
October 26, 200520 yr QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 02:09 AM) I'll say it for Heads. Where's Josh? heh
