ok, im not trying to push anyone's buttons, but i think it would be funny if all the people who said during the season we should trade joe crede for vinny castilla or joe randa step forward and eat some crow.

I can proudly say I never gave up on Crede, even though I got pissed at him a lot, I always believed in Joe.

I don't know if I said trade Crede but I wanted us to trade for a Crede replacement which is pretty much the same thing. I sort of wanted Randa but was really hoping we'd trade for Bill Mueller.

I definitely didn't want crede starting for us in the playoffs in june.

Joe's playoff performance made up for every goddamned popup he has ever hit.

I never wanted him gone, but I did call him Crediocre a few times, and I am currently enjoying my nice big plate of crow, followed with some yummy humble pie for dessert.

Could have been something as simple as nerves, too.

These guys are human, which I think we have a tendency to underappreciate.

typical that some people got to take things all personal when all you have to do is admit you are wrong. why dont you go punch a pillow or have a drink, pal? i said in this origonal post that im not trying to piss anyone off.

 

the point isnt that crede had a low average for the past couple of seasons combined. im talking about advocating a trade for vinny castilla using crede. crede could have been worse than that average-wise and made more errors than he did and it would still be a horrible trade.

 

and as far as me not having that many posts, who cares? not that it's any of your business, but i've been reading the site for the past two seasons but never joined until this season. relax. you are misinterpreting the spirit of this topic. the spirit is either eat crow or don't. it's that simple.

I'll admit I was a big-time Crede hater. As late as Game 2 of the ALDS, I was heckling him everytime he came up to bat, calling him a bum, and telling him that his presence defiled the team he was on and the uniform he wore.

 

I'm not going to be doing that again. Ever.

It should be said that it is certainly possible that whoever replaced Crede would have done as good or better. You aren't necessarily wrong to have wanted Chavez. Of course, staying the course worked out briliantly

The only person I wanted to upgrade on Crede was Chavez..ANd at the time it made sense.. Now it doesn't.. Who cares.

I have had my ups and downs with crede, but now he's my guy.

He had a hell of a playoff. But before we induct him into the baseball hall of fame remember he is a very very streaky hitter. As long as Cruddy hits above 240 next year and doesnt popup every other at bat that would be nice. He has been a streaky hitter his whole career, he hits 350 for a few weeks then 190 for a month. Thank god he was hot during the playoffs. Now if he hits above 260 next year, I will eat Crow.

That's my biggest beef with the guy is that he gets white hot for a while at the plate but then disappears for a month at a time. Fortunately for us he got hot at the right time and it all worked out for the good. I will give him credit though because his defense, aside from a few screwups every now and then, has been solid all year round.
